Since the state of emergency has been lifted in the Kansai region of Japan, I took my sony a7iii and a tamron 28-75 to capture various beautiful sceneries I saw during this day trip to Nara and Kyoto.
I've been usually shooting on HLG2 with autofocus on a gimbal, but this time I gave it a try to shoot on slog2 with manual focus, fully handheld to challenge myself more as a filmmaker. Also, I tried to use davinci resolve to edit this footage since I am thinking of purchasing bmpcc 6k in the future and thought it'd be a nice combination to use them together.
Getting stable footage handheld and using manual focus was more difficult than I thought. However because of the limitations such as not being able to move around a lot like when I use gimbal, It actually gave me more space to think of the composition of shots
In terms of editing, I decided to give just a slight bit of teal on shadows and warmth on highlights as well as grains to sort of emulate vintage film look while retaining natural feel to it.
