this would be a dull world without this technology of stereo and vinyl ((edison's first machines) married to music making a billion vinyl records everywhere on the globe has spread a thousand years of music from every country

The recording is very good. Is the video playing the original 1944 tape? It seems to me that at a speed of 78 cm/s the coils should rotate faster. It's amazing that the recording survived. At a music forum in Russia they discussed the fate of this archive. In 1991, only a small part of the recordings was returned to Germany. Many records have not survived (they were once demagnetized). The USSR did not have enough magnetic tape for new recordings

Thanks for your comment. This is a 38cm copy from the original 77cm/sec master. Please read the video description.

Incredible sound for 1944! Also the stereo presentation is so natural, I'm sure that the miking was very minimalist and based on the work of Alan Blumlein. I was born into a 78 RPM word. In fact I was born the year this recording was made😮 Thanks so much for posting this!

Good sound, apart from various glitches. The others also sound amazing-- Furtwangler's Bruckner 7 Adagio, and Gieseking's Emperor Concerto. Could be your only copies if needed.

Beautiful sound, so much better than grammophone records of the same era. Thanks for sharing this gem!
