I've seen the Atari 800 and the Commodore 64 play video files (the Atari 800 is technically from the 70s, but just so barely you'd argue) Now doesn't simcga emulate a CGA card for Hercules? I tried that with some games and while it runs, it was so slow it rendered games nearly unplayable. Why not run it natively on the Hercules card? (still - this video looks really nice!) (the Atari 800 had a modern-ish hard drive built in that was probably from the late 90s, and the C64 needs a 16 MB REU, but both played videos with no extra CPU or decoding)

Video you just watched is in XDV file format playing using XDC Player(i didn't write it by the way)created for CGA cards. To be honest, I was surprised that it worked on an emulator. You can download it here x86dc.wordpress.com/
