Herdwicks best sheep ever. We are lucky enough to have the most northerly flock in the uk.

Just curious what does the different colours on the back of the sheep mean. Also want to comment on those border collie dogs. Wow they are worth more than 10 times their weight in gold maybe more.

The tups (rams) have a coloured dye put on their Chests and bellies, when they mate some rubs off on the ewe and the farmer can see which have been ‘tupped’.

Please, do something about the Muzak. It is dreadful. I had to stop watching because it was so tiresome.

Why don't you dock their tails ?

I understand keeping tails has always been done in this breed, since the tails are one of many adaptations to bitter cold, high winds, and deep snow for several months each year. Herdwicks have been raised on the fells for close to 2,000 years and are supremely adapted to thrive under these very harsh conditions.

This breed of sheep has wool covering their whole face. I've noticed how some sheep have wool over the top of their heads but not their face, and with some sheep (and the most common it seems) the wool stops at the neck and there's no wool anywhere on their heads or faces

They’re a primitive breed and are highly bad weather adapted, they can survive the harsh northern winters out on the mountains and can even live by eating their own wool if trapped by an avalanche or heavy drifting. The wool on their faces is part of hat cold weather adaptation.

The Lake District looks like very nice countryside. I've been to Barrow-in-furness, but not to one of these rural areas of the Lake District besides just riding through it on the train
