I can't wait to see how the Voyage Cardigan continues to work up! I already LOVE how it's looking!

Thank you so much. It's a really fun experience to just pick colors and go with it. It's not my normal approach and I'm loving the freedom that goes with it 🙂

It was interesting to hear about your process of deciding on coloras to use for the Voyage cardigan. I really like how it is working up & I understand the pleasure that comes from looking at all the colors of yarn in my stash 💕

My family doesn't get it, but I am glad that fellow knitters do 🙂. I really do appreciate my yarn and all of the different colors that I have. It's wonderful to knit the voyage and be able to use such a wide range with it.

That yarn color that you like looks like emerald green to me. It’s beautiful!

The color has a quality I just don't know how to explain. The mini I'm showing was actually part of a neon mini set. So it's almost a neon emerald but has blue in it.. 😅. I am hoping one day when I go to a yarn festival, I can look at some colors in person and see how close I can get 🙂

1st viewer of your podcast. I so agree about the snow and cold! I grew up in Minnesota (north central, on a farm in the middle of nowhere). I now live in Middle Tennessee and winters are much better here, still can get cold but it will last only for a few days and it warms in to the 30s.

Thank you for stopping by 🙂. Tennessee and Minnesota have very different winters. I feel like I could handle Tennessee a little better.. Maybe one day we’ll move farther south 😅. I hope you have a wonderful week!

I think anything you choose will be lovely. I use those snap barrettes from the dollar store to keep your yarn from unravelling, it really works❤️

On my TV I would have told you that your blue-green yarn looks like turquoise, but on my iPad it looks more emerald. The screens really do make a big difference! I do love the color of your sweater on both screens.

That’s how it’s been for me with attempts at getting the color in yarn. It looks close on the monitor, but a different shade when it comes. The shade is always still beautiful, just different than expected 🙂. I think it’d be a good color to pick out in person one day.

I love the progress you have made on the Voyage. All of those fun bright colours are looking fantastic. In fact, I really enjoy your colour choices overall. I think I will have to put The Little Squares Knitting Blanket on my 'to do' list. Such a great scrappy idea!

Thank you for the pattern! I understand the excitement of starting a pattern then when your knitting it it’s not what you were hoping for, I’ve had the same with a couple of patterns, I have found that sometimes I have to switch up the yarn. I like the colors you’ve picked so far for the Voyage.

No problem! You picked a beautiful pattern, I hope that you enjoy it 🙂. As I've grown stronger as a knitter, I don't fear just ripping things off the needles if I don't like how it's going. Sometimes you just have to start fresh and switching up the yarn can turn a Meh project into one that you really love 🙂

It's a wonderful pattern. It's knit in the round, so you can definitely try it. As long as you're up for steeking 😅. I'm kind of scared, but I guess we'll see how it goes 🙂

I sometimes will do a backwards loop across the ball twice in a x. (Like the backwards loop cast on, make loop and slide it over the ball, then rotate and do again). I've seen people do those metal snapping hair barrettes or bobby pins to pin the tail, but usually on bigger balls/cakes. If you can make them center pull, you can knit or crochet up little mini yarn cozies. I used a 8mm crochet hook and 2 strands of unspun (so probably a bulky or holding stands of smaller spun yarn together to get a bulky) and was able to crochet up a mini cozy super quick (I didn't time it but I realized I needed it and finished it all in one sitting while getting ready the other day). It would be a good use of scraps, too, because it used almost no yarn.

I haven't heard of doing the loop in an x. That sounds like it could be promising, thank you! At one point, I used to use really tiny rubber bands and just wrap it around the mini, but I like the idea of using bobby pins too. Mini yarn cozies sound adorable, I can definitely see some of those in my future 🙂

I use narrow hair elastics, which you can buy cheaply in bulk, to prevent unwinding of the yarnballs. Your cardigan looks beautiful!

Thank you, Kristy! I've used elastics before as well, I just didn't have any on hand this time. I will pick some up and get it straightened out 🙂

hi - just caught your podcast for the first time and looking forward to more. I am a fellow Michigander and agree - winter is totally fine through the holidays and then I could be done hah. Could that green -blue color be Turquoise/Jade maybe?

Welcome, fellow Michigander. Thank you for your comment! I think it is a turquoise color 🙂. I could definitely toss out Winter after January 1st. I think that it Winter lasts so long here, by the time Spring comes around, it seems like we’ve been waiting forever 😂

Here’s my tips. To keep minis or leftover balls of yarn from unwinding I use rubber bands, or painters tape, or little hair clips from dollar tree.
@mandyvaughnknits

I like the way painters tape sounds, I've never tried that before. It seems like it'd be a great thing to use to keep them from unwinding. Thank you Stephanie 🙂

You've got a lot going on Mandy. I enjoy all of your content. Inspiring and informative. Is the color (your all time favorite) Turquoise?
@mandyvaughnknits

I think it's a turquoise, just a very specific one. Turquoise really envelopes a variety of shades, but that really might be the closest description of it 🙂. Thank you so much for your kind words ❤️

Thank you, I haven't thought about using hair clips. I bet that would help stop them from unwinding 🙂. A pink fade sounds amazing, I can't wait to see!
