He's not- believe me. Even if we were on the same side, there is bubkes Jason can do to help me overcome my loathing of guns. There is nothing anybody can do. It started even before we left the Soviet Union and has been a part of me ever since. Like back in Kharkov ( yes, it was Kharkov- not Kharkiv ) we were living in an apartment building where maybe 3 families were civvies and the rest- active Soviet Army officers or Academy instructors. And my best friend's father retired as a full Colonel and got a job as a weapons instructor at a local school. And of course his daughter and another friend of mine immediately transferred to that school. Gee, I wonder why. So " Olga's " father comes up with this " brilliant " idea to teach us how to assemble an AK- 47 even before the school started. They basically knew that my family was leaving so why did I have to come along??? So I'm looking at that AK-47, that horrid thing and I'm like, " There is no way in hell I'm gonna touch it. " So there is nothing Jason can do with a loathing that runs that deep.

Thank you for the video. I became a professional firefighter in my 20's. I loved the job, but left to make a better life for my family. One of the biggest influences on my decision to leave was, after a week of training by the ATF, I became interested in pursuing a career with the federal government. (Both of my parents had worked for the FBI during the Hoover years). I found that I was too old to apply, since I was the ripe old age of 36. That was a wake up call. I decided that if I were going to make any changes, I had better get busy doing so. I was told "no one leaves the fire department". I did, and regretted it for many years. We moved to a different state and my wife and I both got jobs that paid considerably more money. Our children were able to receive a better education. The one thing that I could not overcome, was the loss of camaraderie that I had with the other firefighters. I know it was the right decision, but it was very difficult. I have always beaten myself up for quitting. I always felt that I had let someone down. I remember having a similar conversation with my dad. He didn't call me a knucklehead, but probably wanted to. His biggest concern was that I was moving away, and taking his grandchildren to another state. I don't think he ever accepted that I made the best choice. I'm sorry this comment has been long, but I needed to share my experience. I feel better knowing that someone else chose family over career.

@@xDwayne859 I wish I had a simple answer. Lots has changed since I started as a rookie firefighter. There are things you can do to improve your chances of being hired. Good physical conditioning is imperative. You may be in great shape, if not, that's something you can do that will set you apart. Is there a volunteer fire department you can join? That will be a great opportunity to get hands-on experience. Network with people in the fire department. Where I worked, that was a huge advantage. Since firefighters basically live together, you need to be able to get along well with other people. Good people skills are important. Here's my advice to anyone applying for any job. Clean up. Look in the mirror and ask if you would hire you. Look people in the eye, shake hands firmly and have confidence in yourself. I hope this helps. Be prepared and be persistent. Best wishes!

I must confess I never practiced shooting unless I had to qualify every 180 days, and I don’t carry now, because I turned in my state peace officer license & a retired police badge has zero authority to carry,or engage in any peace officer scenario, thus I keep my retirement credentials in storage, I don’t have a shadow box, however I want to thank you for your service, as I was never in the military merely a flunky cop. 😂 I subscribe to your channel, and I like the content. Yes and no. I had a friend back in New York who was working undercover in the Russian Mob. It would be almost like being a field agent- maybe even deadlier.

Thanks for sharing you story. I am a Bering Sea Fisherman, and I also love America. We both have mental toughness and we both love America. I love watching your videos with friends and discussing the content. I hope those boys at the agency are doing the right things with their Top Secret Clearance and all that.

Jason, I’m glad that you shared this background. It now makes rational sense why your honorable service was seven years. Great information on agency shopping as well.

" Agency shopping "? The CIA has a gift shop??? Do you have any idea what you've just unleashed? " Now, let's see- I'll take two of those CIA T shirts, three CIA baseball hats, at least one hoodie and two CIA coffee mugs..."

Sounds like selection. I left because I wanted my children and wife to know who I was. I see my peers who still today are trying at age 50+ trying to be what they were in their 20's. I do not regret it, I see them from time to time, they barely know who their family is. Their grandchildren do not really know them, taking them fishing or watching there ball games, I think I made the right choice.

My question is, what are you hiding in the open? I cannot imagine what you and your former CIA friends are up to behind the scenes. Hiding in plain sight, I love it.

Just out of curiosity, after you accepted your job at the local PD, was there anything special that you did or someone you reached out to that could have provoked the phone calls from the CIA and the Secret Service offering you the jobs? I myself am looking at a policing job, likely in a federal agency as well, so I'm really trying to get the best tips here, lol.

That was pretty interesting. I'm an old Ranger and I enjoy listening to you. I had a First Sergeant in the Ranger Bn that worked with the CIA during the Six Day War. He told us that back then, if you wanted to work for the Agency, you could apply at any airport by letting them know at the American Airlines ticket counter. Boom Boom was quite a guy and a legend in the Special Forces community. Thank you for giving this old man some food for thought. God bless you and yours.

I thought about it or something similar, but I figured my past military misadventure would keep me out. Even later, when I went to college, one of my classmates had a family member who was an uppity-up in an alphabet agency came and told us they needed people like us for the new War on Terror and that he would personally assist any of us if we wanted to join. By that time in my life I had already had a few Men Who Stare At Goats moment and had an acquaintance who was in the DIA and one who never did say who he worked for and was intrigued. But years earlier I had applied for a civvie security firm and they never contacted me after the polygraph and so I had stopped having faith in them and didn't want to bother with anyone who used them. Now, I'm older and have already died once, so I figure fun on the farm is out for me.

How to get the CIA to give an invitation to apply: Get a PhD in English. A friend got an unsolicited invitation when she got her PhD. She and her husband were surprised, since she never had an intention of applying for a job at the CIA.
