Oh my, I would never claim I invented this! I think all vitamix directions say to do this. But given the amount of messages I have received from viewers on various platforms saying they never thought of this, I’m glad I could show some people who didn’t know ☺️

Unfortunately, this isn’t really cleaning it very well. Most blenders allow you to remove the blade and motor from the pitcher. The area around the o ring gets really nasty and should be cleaned regularly.
@WildThyme69

Old school blenders, yes! But high end blenders no. High end blenders bottoms are shaped like a cone for the best blending, and the blades/bottom can't be removed (brands like breville, vitamix, etc). I used to always take apart my old school Oster, but when I upgraded to breville there is no way to take it apart.

my old $19 blender had that function. but i upgraded to a $150 new blender and it doesn't come apart at all.

I started doing this when I was probably like 14 or sooner (whenever I started using the blender, and did it from the beginning, and no, no one showed me) just based off common sense, so when I saw a video like this a while back and people were so blown away I didn’t understand how so many people didn’t even think about it. To me it’s common sense.

It would be wise to get the blade out. Food can get stuck between the blade and the rubber sealer and if it's not cleaned it starts to smell really bad.
