My experience with the digital key on the iPhone was exactly the opposite of yours- it was a breeze to set up, but it works so well that I had to turn off "unlock on approach". Every time I walked across the room above the garage with my phone in my pocket I could hear the car unlocking and re-locking.

Amazing review. Very valid points and accurate breakdown of your likes and dislikes. I agree on mostly everything you stated. I love your improvement suggestions I've been wondering about the plug and charge too. Maybe just like Tesla they were thinking that in Korea there may be designated Genesis superchargers that are capable of doing it 🤷🏿♀️ Also is definitely sucks they don't have HDA2 however I still love driving with HDA. Maybe the next MY will have that ability. And the facial recognition always works for me. It's odd you're having issues. I've unlocked the car in pitch dark before I could have sworn the passenger seat got ergo massage My key card still doesn't work and my phone isn't compatible to be used as a key

The main issue I have with the GV60 is the lack of servicing available outside of the 4 states they're on sale... Or so I hear, anyway. I would love to know more about just how serviceable the car is in other states, you know, should something go wrong on a road trip, or if you buy one and take it to another state. Thanks for the info, Dave! Can't wait to see what you buy next! 😆

@@TrainsFerriesFeet I thought as much, too. But since Genesis says that dealers require special training to fix the GV60, that implies that it may not be serviceable in all EV certified Hyundai dealers yet. I imagine it has to do with Genesis being a separate brand from Hyundai, and having separate management to handle warranty claims, etc. But if someone has gotten a broken GV60 repaired outside of the 4 states, I'd love to know how it was handled. 🤷

Just like you - I thought it was really weird how empty the home screen and HDA screen on the cluster are. I was surprised to see the 'full' versions of those screens. With HDA2, the cluster is filled the surrounding cars (like your Ioniq5). On the home screen there's a really faint outline of the map, I heard (but haven't seen) that there's an AR option in Korea, and I wonder if that screen is a lot busier with the AR information? Really agree with all of your points - love the car, but there are a ton of things that could be a bit more refined for a premium car. (I still cringe every time the hatch closes). It definitely should be an option to set whether your car stays in 1 pedal driving when you turn it off. That said, I'm probably the only person who prefers it to go back to level 3 (so I can ease the car out of the garage - it's so touchy when 1 pedal driving is on - especially if I forgot to turn off auto hold) - but choice is key. One other thing I've had to get used to is steering wheel placement. Looking at your video, it looks like it fits you perfectly :). Maybe it's because I'm short - but the cluster is placed slightly higher so I haven't yet been able to find a position where the wheel isn't ridiculously high, but where I can still see the cluster through the top of the wheel. If I take the recommended posture position - the wheel pretty much completely obstructs the entire view. I still love the car - and I'm still happy to be an early adopter :D. I just hope that some of our feedback makes it back to Genesis for future consideration.

I think this info is way more valuable than the slick videos produced by other people, who don't LIVE with the car and notice it's 'quirks & features' (that's some OTHER guy on KZitem LOL), and your assessment of the real-world functionality is great. Personally, I have a GV60 performance on order here in Canada, I was fortunate and ordered it last Winter, and my salesperson told me last month it's already on the ship and heading to Vancouver! Nice video on the GV60. Regarding the issue you had with the facial recognition, I always bring a second way to unlock the car. I had a similar problem with the Model Y and my previous phone. The phone-as-a-key feature would sometimes disconnect from the car at random moments and leave me stranded until I got it re-linked. Technology is great until it fails miserably.

I completely agree with your dislikes. Especially the HUD adjustment, i-pedal auto hold being snappy, and availability of rubber mats and other accessories for this car. I am also not happy about the turning radius. Also the windshield washer jets miss the middle of windshield( minor dislike). All of my previous vehicles (BMWs) had 3 nozzles instead of two. Dave do you have any issues with the app? I can't send direction from the app to the vehicle. Also when I schedule a departure time with climate control setting, the climate control unit in the car switches to Celsius and I have to change it back to Fahrenheit every time.

You tried to get Kyle interested in doing a video about EV basics and charging but he wasn’t quite buying. I think it’s a fabulous idea. Most of Out of Spec content assumes deep EV understanding. That may be but I personally need a primer. I have a GV 60 on order and would like to learn the geeky stuff before it comes in. You do a great job on your videos and I’m sure you would raise the understanding of many viewers.

This is a good overview and is accurate. I don't think some of the gripes are "big deals". For me the big deals are efficiency (which Dave calls Range). I have had three EV's now that run about 230 miles of range and since that pretty much matches my bladder capacity it works out very well. My concern is this car maxes out at about 3.5 mil/kwh. Thus making it the first of the four EV's I've owned that cannot and will not get 4.1 miles/kwh. I have kept a very careful spreadsheet on all of them and this one is substantially less efficient, i.e. it's getting it's 230 miles of range less efficiently than any other car I've owned. It's got a bigger battery but instead of using it to increase range it is used to decrease efficiency. If this were an ICE car that had been converted to an EV I would understand that (maybe)...but as a purpose-built EV I think that efficiency sucks. I came from a Mustang Mach-E which was the first car with plug & charge....so Dave's point about that is well taken. I just shouldn't be this hard to charge the car. All of that could be worked out with software updates...so why not...this Performance version cost $20K more than my MME.

Looking forward to your next videos.

Rumor has it they are coming out with Dog Mode. You can put the car into utility mode though and run the AC for an extended period of time as opposed to draining your 12v. However, nothing will show on the screen letting people know your pup is cool inside. So I would recommend making up a sign so people don’t break your windows to save a hot pup. Clearly not as elegant as what Tesla and Rivian offer, but at least you know there is a way to accomplish the same thing

I took possession of my Advanced GV60 July 28th. Tim @genesisoffairfield walked me through just as he did with Dave; he was thorough! 2 things for me: 1. The charging cable is level 1! WHAT?! I have to purchase a level 2 cable separately. 2. My Samsung is too old and will not support the Genesis App. My husband was able to on his Motorola and he thinks it's great. As for the biometrics, I couldn't be happier! I'm 5'5" and don't have to bend over for the facial recognition. It has worked every time; even when it's so dark I can't find the handle! No "boost" button, but she's still rocket fast! I've learned a lot from KZitem videos before I got her, but there is no substitute for hands-on learning! I don't know why people say the digital key doesn't work on their iPhone. I have a March 2022 build GV60 Performance and it works perfectly with my iPhone Pro Max. I suspect that older iPhones that do not have capabilities for NFC (near field communication), which is the same technology used by Apple Air Tags, is probably why the digital phone key doesn't work. Basically if you have an iPhone AFTER iPhone 6 and have updated at least to iOS 13 the feature should work because they have the NFC hardware/software to make the digital key work.
