HERE'S WHAT WE SHOULD DO WHEN STORMS START TO YELLOW DURING THE SUMMER
If you have noticed that your thuja are losing their desired color and turning yellow, this is a reason to be careful.
We all know that conifers shed part of their bristles during autumn, so we will notice that the bristles naturally turn yellow inside the crown of the thuja.
The yellow bristles remain between the thuja and cannot fall off by themselves, so we have to clean the thuja every autumn.
If thuja trees start to turn yellow during the summer, it can be for the following reasons:
When the summers are hot and dry, thujas can turn yellow due to exposure to extreme weather conditions.
First, the thuja tips turn yellow, then the yellowness spreads to the inside of the branches, especially on the sides.
In this case, the solution is regular watering.
In order to protect them from the sun, it is necessary to put organic mulch around the thuja, which will help the soil retain moisture.
A lack of nutrients is another reason why it turns yellow in the summer.
Buy a foliar supplement for thuja in agricultural pharmacies.
We must spray thuja preventively with horticultural oil in the winter while the plant is dormant.
To prevent the occurrence of fungal diseases and yellowing of bristles, spray thuja at least once a month with aspirin and water.
Dissolve 1 tablet of aspirin id 500 mg in 5 liters of water.
You can also spray thuja twice a month with the following solution:
5 liters of water, 1 liter of whey or uncooked milk, 2 tablespoons of baking soda and 6 drops of povidone iodine.
This is an excellent protection or supplement for thuja.
One of the biggest enemies of the thuja is the thuja beetle, a pest that attacks both young and old thuja.
It is very invasive and lays Shorten the tips of the bristles by at least 2 cm.
The next pruning a little further from the first plane encourages even denser branching with lots of young bristles.
That's why the tujas are starting to dry.
In the event of an attack by this pest, cut off all the attacked branches and burn them.
In this case, use an insecticide containing the active substance abamecin up to 3x during the season with an interval of 45 days.
You can use a combination of insecticides, fungicides and acaricides.
Combine these preparations:
Bifenicus ...insecticide
Galofungin T... fungicide
Ammon ... acaricide
Thuja should be sprayed preventively 3x a year during the growing season and 2x during the winter.
Thujas are pruned at least twice a year, and emerald thujas should never be cut off because they will lose their shape.
If you notice that the thuja has set and changed color, be sure to prune it.
It will form new buds in the presence of hormones in the top parts of the branches when cut
Prune the thuja upright following its growth line.
This thuja has lost its color and started to thin out.
All I have to do is cover it with foil and protect it.
Buy one of these foliar fertilizers:
Algae biosum 10 ml per 10 liters of water
Vuxal micro mix 10 ml per 10 liters of water
Vuxal magnesium 10 ml per 10 liters of water
Murtonik macro + micro elements
You can use these fertilizers individually or you can combine them.
