In my opinion, the game suffers from a serious lack of selling mechanics and animations... wrestlers just get back up after every hit like nothing happened--really kills immersion. I wish the game was slowed down and there was some selling animations to make the matches look more dramatic.

The reality is the game is still a better core engine than any of the alternative 2K wrestling games. It's arguable that it's gotten worse since release, however minus the menu being a bit more laggy I don't really see how it's specifically gotten worse. It's not perfect by any means but it's also not built with a Western market in mind as much as an Eastern market. The argument you make is also subjective. As far as the starting state of the wrestler selection screen, what's right is based primarily on the desires of an individual user. I prefer the slots all start set to CPU and that works for me, might not be for the next guy. As far as the wrestler entrance music goes, the majority of edit makers who are popular on the workshop simply make the music named after the wrestler for example, "Taz.mp3" thus meaning you can simply download Taz's theme to the BGM folder as "Taz.mp3" and it will work. Obviously they can't allow you to download the music with the edit because of serious copyright legal implications. That form of doing entrance music is not really available in any competing wrestling title so even with having to manually assign it is not particularly surprising or disappointing. Not being able to book a card is a fair complaint. Timing changes are not necessarily a good or bad thing, if you're playing at 125% speed complaining about it that's also kind of on you. I've been playing on CPU level 7 at 100% personally and have nice competitive matches. As for the DLC, I'm not aware that the core game files have actually been negatively effected by the DLC. If a wrestler has new DLC content then they become unselectable it doesn't actually impact gameplay at all. While I don't particular advocate for DLC the idea that they should allow people to upload edits with DLC content that should then be downloadable and playable on non-DLC games is very unfair. If they did that one person could easily purchase the DLC, make an edit with all the moves, export it to the workshop, and nobody would ever need to buy the DLC again. The only way to make that solution work would be to simply make it so downloaded edits can not be modified at all, which would be terrible. Putting a stand alone creation tool that allows easier use of the game as DLC is much more disruptive than locking extra parts and moves. Promoter mode is agreeably not the greatest thing ever, however it is a big improvement for the PS4 players who have no mods to help with booking cards. Promoter is about the only point made that I'll concede easily. The fact that the core engine of this game (the logic and skills) is the strongest feature and completely unmatched in the current wrestling game options make this game an absolute must for wrestling fans who tire of the poor pacing and comical ridiculous selling presented in 2K and other titles. It seems silly to bash this for interface issues and DLC when the largest competitor is currently peddling loot boxes and has a garbage interface requiring multiple clicks and loads to do virtually anything. It's as if this video was done with little time put into it researching the current state of the game and within a vacuum where competing titles do not exist. TL;DR This is still the best wrestling game available today. Personal tastes varying of course. Admittedly, I love this title and I'm potentially biased because with the Mods it's allowed me to create things I consider beautiful.

Some incredible points made here and I have to say I agree with just about everyone of them (and I even run a fire pro channel so you know I’m hardcore). I’ve always approached Fire Pro less as a game and more as a model train set and I think once I made that distinction I actually came to embrace its faults. Instead of design issues, they are challenges to overcome with the reward being a greater ability to customize the experience. Kind of like the difficulty in painting miniatures or rigging electricity/power to a set.
@GameEscape

Interesting analogy with model trains. I do see your point. I know I have gotten a lot of hate for this video, but I do enjoy Fire Pro. And do see that there is a substantial reward awaiting those who deal with the game's idiosyncrasies and passionately tinker with it. Still, I think this release is a missed opportunity to streamline the user experience and make the beauty of the game visible to more people. Unlike some people have said in the comments, I don't want this to become a WWE game. I want to be classic Fire Pro with modern QOL.

i actually believe even without Carlzilla's mods , Fire Pro Wrestling World on PC is very playable , i enjoy beating the shit out of my friend's character in online mode , i don't care about finding random people online (tho that is more alive on PS4 , coz consoles yeah , same thing is with WWE 2K series , people barely go online with PC and instead they use Parsec for more match types or even using mod characters) Menu is actually very appealing to me , i don't see any issues there , they definitely fixed lots of shit from it , but to say its a bad looking menu that looks like something from 90s to 2000 ... that's not something i can accept. we have Danganronpa v3 that has an old ass menu but still is being praised. but that's besides the point , the point is , the menu looks good , its not like i am gonna play in the menus all the time , game play is what i care about. Music Entrance is not even remotely hard tho , even though i don't really use it. Music Randomization is sadly available with mods only for now , but at the same time , i personally don't even use them , i'll just mute the game and i'll use Spotify's playlist , none of this is actually a "Major" issue so apparently doing a multi click process to get wrestlers for a match is a waste of time but tapping lots of buttons for WWE 2K games aren't? excuse me what? we even do multi-tap/click stuff for football/soccer games. its like , the most basic thing that there is , what , you expected to see a wrestler selection menu that uses your voice to recognize which wrestler to get? as the matter of fact , selecting wrestlers is quite easy in Fire Pro. easier than other games. Controls felt off to you? well that's a matter of opinion since to me quite frankly , Fire Pro Wrestling Returns (PS2) had harder controls and harder game in general , and i use same controller , same button mapping for Fire Pro Wrestling World and everything seems easier and more polished , you can even run into the ring now while you could just hit the apron in older games , so then again , its probably game difficulty. New Japan Pro Wrestling's DLC is not a thing that you "should" buy in the end of the day , so its good if you don't want it , but i personally loved the Story mode and the new moves they added with it , so i don't know how is that a problem , but yeah , about the wrestler being locked if they had DLC parts , well ... that's kind of a logical thing , i mean you have a DLC part , so of course only people who have the DLC can play it , i am sure other games used the very same thing as well , like WWE 2K's community creations was telling me to buy this DLC in order to get that wrestler solution is to get the same wrestler but NO DLC version of them. "why lock the game behind this DLCs?" why not? if you look at it , business wise , its the best move , even i would do the same thing for my game because like i said , its using a DLC PART , something that will not work for you if you don't own it , that's the entire point of DLC. Locked the moves behind the DLC? no , not really , they just added like .. some wrestler-specific moves that were for New Japan guys that weren't in the game. so anything else is basically unlocked , they had Kenny and Okada's finishers even before DLCs , so again , not a problem. "a Fair way to monetize itself" isn't it fair to bring DLCs instead of Microtransactions? i see it being totally fair , its DLC afterall , you either choose to pay for it and get additional content or you won't , simple as that. i rather have DLCs than Microtransactions. and the only DLC that i have a problem with , is Stardom DLC , like they have 10 women wrestlers with a ring and their moves and that's it ... no belts added or something. about Stadiums , yeah , i agree on that one , they could've added more , but even without it , i am seeing an amazing gameplay so i don't even fucking mind. Fire Promoter didn't just give basic stuff like putting a card , instead it kind of was a story as well , the story of you as the CEO , it's the best DLC i've ever got , better than any GM Mode i ever played. so in the end , there wasn't a "core issue" besides Stadium stuff , and anything else that you saw as bad , wasn't being bad in the eyes of others. this is also a Japanese game and i am sure Japanese audience are more than fine with this. i agree to an extent that this game could be more , but even still , as long as i am playing this , i won't have to see that ugly looking WWE 2K series (a series i also loved and modded once , but recently it and its fanbase are just trash) so i am good , so to say "THIS GAME GOT WORSE SINCE ITS RELEASE" is just misleading the fans and wrong , it didn't get worse at all , and that's all i had to say , its been a long time since you actually posted this video so i am sure there have been lots of improvements in game as well by now. have a good day

First of all, they need to COMPLETELY overhaul the online and make it much easier to find a match. Second, add backstage and crowd fighting. I can't say how it is compared to the old games as I've only recently played them so maybe I'm missing something but for running your own promotion it's the best thing I've ever played. Still can't create your own ppv cards outside of fire promoter, which is just a tedious slog. UI is still horrendous. Still can't just create a tournament and play all of the matches. The DLC split the community, so now if you don't have all of it, caws can't be used. Gameplay is classic fire pro brilliance, but it's trapped in a tedious, cynical package.
