@LincolnRon
5 жыл бұрын
Most muscle cars from the 1960s did not have automatic transmissions. Probably most vehicles didn't have automatics in the 1960s. It was a very expensive option so most people probably didn't buy automatics.
@LincolnRon
5 жыл бұрын
@jud dude I never said automatics weren't available in the 1960s. I said automatics probably weren't as popular as manuals because automatics costed more than manuals back in the 1960s. I had an AMC Rambler from the 1960s that had an automatic transmission. And that was one of the cheapest American cars you could get.

@LincolnRon
5 жыл бұрын
@@landonfranklin1170 I can remember that in 1979 when a Fiat X19 & a Jeep CJ5 Renegade Levi edition were both $9,000 an automatic transmission cost $800 extra. That was adding about 9% to the cost of a vehicle at a time when automatics were more common than manuals.
@LincolnRon
5 жыл бұрын
@jud dude I made that reply before you added the "In the 60s I'd bet more cars had automatic transmissions than manuals " to your reply. But without the statistics to back it up. It's just your memory of how you perceived things were in the 1960s versus my memory of how I perceived things were in the 1960s. I was just a kid in the 1960s so there is a very good chance I am wrong. But I remember automatics being mostly for old people, women, and luxury cars / luxury station wagons.

Nicely maintained classic car. The deluxe interior and big block is what made these cars. The overhead console also made it to the Thunderbirds (marketed to look like a jumbo jet cockpit). -Easy Bake Oven is to hold the 8Track tapes -Vent window was in every American and most British cars before 1970. They were vital in cooling and defogging before AC. Wish cars still had them. -Dimmers were always on the floor button in the 60s and early 70s. European design started influencing the move to the stalk. I hate the stalk dimmers. -I do remember a lot of the squeeze foot pump washers. They always failed after a few years as the rubber cracked. Thanks for showing it. Ride happy.

Very very nice car there sir. My Dad bought a wrecked one in the early 70's and we (me being about 8-10 years old lol) fixed it up. Then he SOLD IT!!!!!! I begged him to keep it for me but no dice. I've wanted another 67 fastback ever since but it just hasn't happened. Enjoy your sweet ride and be safe!

Great review. I learned some things today ! Also got a kick out of your renaming of car accessories ie: The Easy bake Oven ! Good place to put your McDonalds fries on the way home lol !

A beautiful example of an era I fondly remember. The 1st Mustang I drove was a '68 fastback with a 428.

Iconic. Fave word. And of course it’s my favorite Mustang, cause I have it. I left the hobby years ago because of guys like that. I have returned with a 66 fastback a 67 gt fastback k code and a Boss 302. They are all iconic and favorites!
