Hi Rih, you certainly rode a very frisky horse - in the beginning you had trouble to control her, but you did a good job and succeeded. And when she started bucking you were really good in staying on for many bucks. And when she reared high up (look at 0:18!!!) you were fantastic in keeping balance and a safe seat on that rearing horse. Wow !!! But the huge buck after the rear was too strong for you Two questions for you: How did you feel, when she reared - and had you ever been before on a rering horse or was that you first experience? And what happened after your fall - could you continue the ride and if so how did she behave?

question 1: tbh i don't remember anything else then i was on my knees on the ground and nope this was my first fall question 2: after my fall she just stood there looking at me and i immediately went over to apologize because i pulled on her mouth and so i rode my friends horse while my trainer lunged her and oml she was spicy

I totally blame the instructor but you could see the horse was already tense and up to something when the video startet. In that case it would be better to go down with the tasks and just gallop one more round or til the horse AND RIDER are relaxed and everything is balanced. then they can focus together on the next task like the pole. Whatever overwhelmed the horse, that was one thing too much.

With a hot horse try stepping into the outside stirrup to help balance the horse up....and if the little bugger goes up in the air? Drop your 8nside rein and pull it towards to calf. He can't rear/buck if he's not straight. Hope you're feeling better.

You need to practice a one rein stop for circling before you have a loss of control. You were out of control at the beginning. Time then to do a tight circle. The use of a strong inside rein turning pulls you back and down deeper into the saddle. I teach this all the time. To use leverage to hold you down and strong. You circle until horse relaxes. Then back up go forward and turn tight other side to re-enforce control. Repeat as needed. The horse gets stronger react SOONER.

As an instructor, I will say that lesson horses should be steady enough for someone to raise their voice level up so a rider can hear. I doubt the horse was “spooked” by the instructor’s voice. She wasn’t projecting mad or angry. One of the comments I read mentioned a weather shift. Which in fact can be all a horse needs to play up like that. It looks to me like the horse was not in contact well when she picked up the canter (high head toss and got above the hands), and then she got out from in between the rider’s hands and legs over the second to the last ground pole, and as she went over the final pole the rider was rolled too for forward on her thigh, not looking up and ahead enough for the support being offered in her lower leg (toes lower than heel) The horse felt it, AND took advantage of it. The rear was most likely a response from the unsteady hands (they will get more quiet with more riding), but the rider did well to release as soon as she was aware. And that buck was probably just a little extra mare spice to let everyone know she wasn’t happy about not being ridden quite as well as she wanted to be at the moment. I thought the rider did a great job trying to follow what the instructor was saying, and I thought the instructor was good at keeping calm and not escalating things. Sometimes even the best horses have a day when they just want to object to rider errors; even the unintentional ones. I’m still leaning towards the weather shift making a difference.

Hence why I don't ride horses, they can think for themselves. Give me a high powered motorbike and I'll ride doing 200kph no worries. I work with horses at a horse breeding centre. I'll care for them, clean up after them, feed them, talk to them, give them carrots and smooch them and handle them on a lead, but I won't ride them :)
