I just finished this as an audiobook. Due to the complexity, I kinda wish I had this one in paper. A lot of the characters and events kinda mashed together for me, to the point that I had to look up summaries when I was done. Extremely cool though, and i loved Teg.

I agree. I didn't need all those pages for this story. I enjoyed the story but had trouble understanding where it was going until the last few chapters. Teg was my fav. character.

Just finished it and yes, too long. The escape from the No globe and movement around Gammu was 40% too long

These are so enjoyable and you're really good at this. I listen at bedtime, and it makes my job even better the next day, because I'm not up at night, thinking about stuff. This is the hardest one for me. In whatever way listening to a thing can be "hard", I guess.

I freuquently forgot who was who in this book. Too many bene jeserit to keep track of, Swang yoo, Lucilla, Teresa, Odraid, they just blurred

Here I am again after finishing another one of the books. Thank you for your thorough recap - it definitely helps to go over the key moments in the book. I also agree that it could have been done in a less detail-exhaustive way but I guess that's Frank's style. Planning to read chapterhouse... at some point.

Thank you so much for this!! Seriously. I really enjoy your videos and can’t wait for Chapterhouse ❤️🥰 Also you should look into Rendezvous with Rama! That’s the Director of Dune’s next movie.

Super helpful and informative. It was mildly challenging to keep up with the audio version when listening to only 20 minutes a day. This helped clarify a lot!

Thank you for this. What I'd really love is a Q&A on this book. Out of all of them, I've had the most trouble following the plot. For example, around 20:00 you get to the attack on Sheeana. WHY did the Tleilaxu and the Ixians attack? I have so many questions. The omniscient narration was very difficult for me in this one.

The Tleilaxu wanted to capture Sheeana to control Rakis, the only other source of spice. The Ixians assisted because of their alliance with the Tleilaxu.

I'm with you on your appraisal of the story quality. I'm doing DanikaXIX's Dune Club and this book doesn't really seem like it needs to be as long as it is. I loved God Emperor, too, so this one feels duller in a way.

I actually enjoyed this one. Did anyone else think Tegs escape and Matrix like second vision was all part of the T-Probe? I thought for sure he was going to wake up with the thing still attached to him. I thought they were using it to get him to go to the different locations in his mind. He had that whole little moment with déjà vu as well, like he had been there before. I thought that was going to be the reality, all of these places that he thought were safe, but had enemies, were safe until he ran to them on the other simulations..

Thanks for this vid. Miles Teg is a brilliant character. I loved when he gains his new powers at the end. So epic and I totally visualised him taking everyone down. I couldn’t help but have the track ‘Phat Planet’ by Leftfield in my head when reading this part. Also where did you get the T shirt from?
@Internetrando

Yeah, Miles Teg was definitely one of the more memorable characters from the later books. The T-shirt is from a website called redbubble!

Why do you call it Teilaxu instead of the Tleilaxu? Is that in the book to leave the L out in certain situations?
@Internetrando
Жыл бұрын
No, it’s a pronunciation error on my part. Even though I know what it should sound like, sometimes my brain just misses the L.
@wereoctopus

I know the computer games aren't canon but the cutscenes in "Emperor: Battle for Dune" pronounce Tleilaxu with a silent L, roughly like "tie lack sue". I played that game years before I read Dune Messiah, so I've always just gone with that pronunciation.
