The 50's and 60's had bands and music that many rock & roll fans could choose to identify with. Herman's Hermits deserve a place in the Rock n Roll hall of fame.

There may be one hidden somewhere and should you ever get to approach it , you may be beyond privileged to be able to travel back to the 1960's and mention to someone in that era what many of us are still facinated with music of the 1960's.

Seeing Noone in concert a few times, I was blown away by his ability to project and carry a tune. When he belts out "Jezebel".. oh my god - knocks your socks off! His talent was overlooked by many because the Hermits' music was melodic, not heavy like the Cream, or psychedelic like so many others at the time. Some thought of the Hermits as "bubblegum" or folksy. But me, I liked their music best of all because it was fun and melodic and you could sing to it. I still like Peter, and his Hermits' tunes better than any other music. Nothing else compares. Also, his albums are to this day the only ones I like in their entirety. Of other music I like, I generally like only a couple of songs on any given album. But I like 95% of all his songs, and know the words and can sing along. These are tunes that make me feel good, and I never tire of them.

My best friend and I loved Peter Noone more than life itself. An old gentleman who lived in my cousin's neighborhood, his last name was Noone-so of course we wondered if they were related. He said Peter was his nephew. We about DIED! That guy had a lot of fun with that, I'm sure! Great memory.

To answer my own question, (which was unnecessary, as it is written at the top of the page) an obscure 1965 movie called "When the Boys Meet the Girls." Seemingly a star vehicle for Connie Francis with some great music. Herman's Hermits and lots of George Gershwin. The outfits might look silly, but you can't argue with their taste.

When these guys were at their peak, a fan club member sent Peter a stick of chewing gum with the message: "Peter...please chew this once and send it back to me...I'll chew it for the rest of my life!" Man...I'd say that would be as unsanitary as a one night stand with Lindsay Lohan. Peter Noone was a great entertainer, and never saw himself as a vocalist extraordinaire, and rightly so. Herman's Hermits were a big part of my listening as a kid, just the same!
