I saw Hernando teach a master class at a conference in NYU a few years ago. He is the most brilliant lecturer I have heard in all my time studying there. I hope Peru gets him as a president, they are very lucky if he wins.

Wow Hernando is brilliant! I learned about this man during lecture in my Geography class at UCLA that is about uneven development throughout the world during the spring quarter back in 2018. Recently I have been really interested in becoming a real estate investor as a way to develop wealth in order to increase my quality of life and to better serve society and the environment somehow once I reach the cross over point. Homelessness, gentrification, slums, kampungs, barrios, and favelas have always fascinated and concerned me. I want to better understand these phenomena, along with real estate in the west and land tenureship in the developing world so that I can better help the poor and underprivileged attain a better quality of life. This video was very informative and inspiring.

I recommend you the documental ''The power of the poor" It explains how the 'Peruvian miracle' happened, we came from terrorism, hyperinflation, deep statism and almost 60% of poverty in the 90's to 20% of poverty in only 20 years.

“The birds were chirping and I said I might not ever hear them again…let’s not do this. And I started feeling like a coward,” so he went ahead with his plan. Such integrity and courage. What a hero! Reminds me of what one of our founders, Patrick Henry, said in convincing Americans to fight for liberty: “Is life so dear, or peace so sweet, as to be purchased at the price of chains and slavery? I know not what course others may take; but as for me, give me liberty or give me death!” Well done, Mr. de Soto. Well done.

-Mitchell, Timothy (2005). ""The work of economics: how a discipline makes its world".
@luismartinezcayturo6534

Did you say "The Other Path?. Hernando de Soto: Let me explain a little bit the origin of that singular title. Everyone knows who Michael Harrington was, included Hernando de Soto. Michael Harrington was the author of "The Other America", a treatise on poverty in The United States. Published in 1962, it was oriented to unravel the mystery around monetary poverty in USA, by measuring the impact of Gini Coefficient on the USA economy. But what Hernando de Soto Polar´s "The Other Path" is all about?. Nothing to begin with. It tried to explain the origin of economic misery in Peru, focusing rural areas in terms of the need of formalization (awarding legal titles for posessors of lands). Nowadays Hernando de Soto is rallying campaign for Keiko Fujimori ( The genie is out of the bottle!!!). What will he want in exchange?. Obviously he wants power for improving his own image in front of the banking system in the USA. Warum? Darum!!
