Gerald Gowing was born in Ontario in 1931. Looking for adventure and an opportunity to serve, he joined the Canadian Army in October 1950 during the Korean War. He became a member of the Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry and shipped out overseas in January 1951 as reinforcement Bren gunner. Mr. Gowing saw heavy action in Korea, including the Battle at Kapyong. In this clip, he recalls how the North Korean and Chinese attacks would come in waves, sending thousands of troops against the vastly outnumbered Canadian soldiers.
