@@miyahrochelle3560 Learning to face the trauma, how to cope with it and how to convert it into strength is the hardest, but most important thing. Like most victims of childhood molestation i was on a self destruktive streak for many years. After loosing a wife to cancer i nearly ended it all, but i chose therapy instead. That gave me the tools to use my own pain to help others. I found happiness through that. Origami: That’s what it reminded me of as soon as I saw the angles, the shapes she was creating. Should get her some origami paper, eh? FWIW, it seems to me creative people have a challenge finding their “spot” in this world. We try to coerce them into a particular “artistic speciality,” like “painter” (and further sub-spots like modern, classical, by medium etc.) or “singer” and sub-spots like Blues, Jazz etc. Ex: Joni Mitchell views herself as a painter, not a singer yet most people know her as a singer. Or like Mark who loves photography. I noticed immediately when he took his pictures of his interviewees, they always pan over that person slowly, carefully, as if to say, “Look at their wholeness in the midst of all their brokenness.” And it makes them beautiful. Combine that with their interview and it’s just this beautifully human “human being.” The creative people I’ve come across throughout my life just aren’t, I guess the word is “reductionist.” They “see” things as a whole, not it’s individual parts; it’s where they find the beauty, the inspiration, the juice or whatever. I’m failing horribly to express what I mean....does anyone get what I’m saying because I’m just not creative or artistic at all.

Yes, us Valley girls cruised around and called it all kinds of cutsie names like booger sugar, California snow, toot sweet, and I am sure others. It was all romanticized at every angle by the beautiful people. The only people who said anything bad about it was Nancy Reagan on tv saying "Just Say No" That was not glamorous and when Nicholas Cage or Rob Lowe ever noticed me and my friends, we were going to look cool! 🤩🙄

Not true, it takes your entire mental to snap, you have to break. Source: 6 years abusing or prescription opiates heavily daily, mixing in any other downers I found. Once I met fenty, things changed fast. A year and a half on the stuff and I checked myself into detox for a week, then started seeing a doctor. Sixteen months clean, and I did this ALONE. Meaning, I didn't have anybody to help me, take me places while I was in withdrawal and feeling like killing myself because I just wanted the misery to stop. No one to push me to do the right thing but me and my drive, my desire to achieve what I had been lost on for near a decade. I didn't delete any numbers, I admitted to myself I was helpless, I did this to myself, and that I was DONE being sorry for myself and making excuses, most of all, sick and tired of being sick, broke and tired. You CAN do it if you want to. Don't take that from me, or the rest of us who decided to take a walk down into hell and we actually made it back.

@@BaskiHighT @ Exactly!!! Facts!!! Every small town has just as much now adays as the big cities do. I’ve worked with the homeless since 2004. I’ve seen& heard every story under the sun ☀️❤️🩹 and Fentanyl and Heron are the two drugs thst are the hardest to beat. It may take yrs and more then a few times at giving it a go. For the last 7 yrs I’ve worked with street kids age 16-30 yrs old. It’s hard I have to walk away each night and leave these kids on the cold Canadian streets at night. Some are in shelters. Shared living accommodations . But some even the adults are right were they want to be. Nobody can want it bad enough it’s up to that individual!! ❤️🩹🤷🏽♀️😭 it’s truly heartbreaking 💔❤️🩹🙏🏽🇨🇦

Going to jail often does the trick. Almost everyone that got clean when I worked in Harm Reduction withdrew in the clinker and decided to stick with it and stay clean. A few used Methadone. But now that Suboxone is available that seems like a good alternative.

There are so many drug addicts who are very intelligent and very, very nice.Danielle is definitely one of them. There's always a strong reason someone becomes addicted to drugs. You're doing things that you wouldn't normally do.Most of them are good in their soul. That's why you should never give up, not as an addict but not as a family either.I was addicted myself and have been in the methadone program for many years.Love and greets from germany

Just read through the comments. Over 90% were she's so beautiful, calm, nice with continual positive reinforcement. What about all the other people Mark interviews? This is the first video that bothered me because of the comments. Please don't comment that you're just trying to help. Everyone of these people are sick & need help. Society continues to show how shallow they are! Mark, you know I love your work & you won't take this personally.

Spot on. Everyone is worthy of redemption, regardless of the way they look. We find it easier to label those who look different than us, just because she looks put together doesn’t mean ship. Her daughter and family are suffering, and so is she , beauty is superficial..sobriety is deep stuff that everyone deserves.

I agree , but some don't ,eons ago I tried slow with a mate of mine , he turned green and vomitted profusely , I stuck out my arm and asked for more , later on he got into uppers heavily whilst I was full blown into the gear , U know like how some ppl like uppers cause they work for them ,where for me they make me to scattered and don't like being awake , and slow made me go out and dance all night ... It's strange how it works like that , PS I've been clean for 9 years now but the dis-ease never has gone away for me.

Dope changes ones brain chemestry. It's VERY tricky. If simply wanting to stop worked, we'd all have done it. Having experienced dope sickness, getting clean, then picking up again, should be all the evidence a person needs that willpower alone is not enough- but of course it's not. Typically, us addicts over estimate ourselves while underestimating the power of the drug. Truth is, we don't need to understand how that is possible. What we need to realize is that we, on our own, do not possess enough power. Can power sufficient to keep from picking up again be accessed? Yes it can. For the few that might claim they walked away by just saying "no", good for you! You dodged the bullet. Rare, but I've seen that too. Go enjoy your life and count your blessings. The rest of us will either use till we die, get clean and live a recovery life, or have a pattern of using, staying clean for periods, using, getting clean, etc. I'm the last type. That sucks on its own, having lost so much, time after time, but it sure beats being dead- or worse, the walking dead! Godspeed.

Mark has, obviously, had some of the best interviews of the human experience countless times. But with the specific circumstances that I'm in tonight, this one in particular hit me hard. This women is an angel, I swear. She has such a beautiful soul. And it sounds to me like it runs in her mothers family, honestly. I would love to meet them. She only needs a little push. Shes done it before. But she has so many passions and ambitions. And the way she interviewed him in the beginning; the way he was answering was so cute. He kind of went into a different mode than he normally does. He started to reminisce and get excited to tell some of his story for once, and it was because she wanted to hear. Interviewee interviewing the interviewer. Organic human experience. It's amazing. God protect them❤

Mark Laita - why not try and get a interview with Loni Willison - a former Swim Wear Model - who was married to former Baywatch Star Jeremy Jackson - who now for the last few years has been Homeless around Los Angles - it be very interesting to hear a story like that - going from the red carpet and celebrity events - to - being spotted scavenging food from bins around the Los Angeles area, and has been pictured sleeping under a shopping trolley full of her possessions.

She has a rare gift to be relatable and make good honest sense of life. She has a lot to offer this world. Her life experiences are preparing her for being the best counselor ever. I hope she gets tired of her life as it is now, so she can detox and relearn to live sober. She can do so much more good than someone without her life experiences.
