The Hero engine, or aeolipile, is a jet engine that rotates by heating and ejecting water vapor. Around the 1st century AD, Heron of Alexandria wrote about this device, and many sources credit him with its invention. Heron's steam engine and the sphere of Aeolus are said to be the world's first ``steam engine'' or ``steam turbine.'' The origin of the word "aeolipile" is the Greek "aeolos" and "pila" (sphere), and Aeolus is the god of wind in Greek mythology.

Quoted from the attached document “History of steam turbines”
Around 150 BC, Heron created a reaction turbine in which the steam generated in a pressure vessel passed through a support and spouted out from the tips of two curved tubes attached to a rotating sphere, which rotated by the reaction of the steam. Later, in 1629, Branca of Italy considered an impulse turbine that sprayed steam on an impeller to rotate it, but it was not until 1883 that it was put into practical use by C.G. Raval of Sweden, and in 1889, by C.A. Parsons of England. The reaction turbine was manufactured by many people, and later, through the invention and improvement of many people, it was used as the current high-output prime mover, and it is divided into power generation, ship, factory, etc. depending on the purpose.
