These shakes were around 7-10 tons. The nets fished heavy like this for 16hrs. The nets used were #6, 56mm, 100 meshes deep and 75 fathoms long. There are two 12hp Hyd. power packs, one for the drum and the other for the beater bar. The skiff has 6 hatches and packs 16T with 1' of free board. Queensborough Marine (Vancouver BC) shared info on the design of power packs etc. My deck hand has been with me for along time in various fisheries.

The nets are very size selective, set close to the beach in spawn water, so as to get the females for the roe. Pursing them is more efficient put for the most part not as profitable.

jag har varit fiskare från 1950 - 1975 men denna sorts fiskeri tycker jag inte om det är inte bra för varken fisk eller hav. verner
