I run a humidifier right near my plant, I have a grow light on about 12 hours...and make sure the soil almost dries out between watering. These things will really be a big help I think in keeping plants feeling right during shitty winter months. If the space is right, and grow lights work, then I believe you can give a small boost of fertilizer once in a while in winter. I use a very low concentrated organic liquid based one. 1-1-1 ratio which is safe even during less growth times. Want an AWESOME looking plant? Good light, right water amounts, and moist warm air with a humidifier close by...and a light fertilizer that's organic. Also, BOTTOM water...using a wick pot- look it up....game changer.

thanks for this knowledge you offered as a reminder for the winter season. it was just what was needed as I started to notice my plants being sad. I need to pay attention to the draft air. It's been a long time since we've seen your video. The way you convey your advice to us is excellent. Congratulations!!!

Mine all grow completely under artificial light year-round and I add humidifiers but I swear they have some form of clock or timekeeping mechanism. Even when indoor conditions are kept the same year round There's something that triggers with the season. I can keep them happy or decent in the winter but they somehow know when spring and summer come and start thriving

True, misting is the biggest nonsense - every time I hear someone say that they mist their plants and believe it really helps humidity, I think: "aaa, beginner, doesn´t know yet" :-D

The plants I recently repotted into pumice are still growing happily - all winter! I wasn’t expecting this. These same plants were dormant last winter when they were potted in regular soil.

For humidifing, the best way is to use a wet towel by placing it in a small tumbler and top up with water frequently. Use non-organic textile like polyester (old running tshirt) to avoid mould or smell.

I use a grow light on my money tree, growing like crazy...I leave it on half thru the day until about 11 at night, it really helps. Amazon has small cheap ones, since I'm not a serious plant grower, I only need one small halo one. Just make sure you get a "full spectrum" one.

Should any yellow leaves be removed in winter? Also, what bugs should I look out for? I honestly thought bugs were inactive in winter! I have a daylight bulb in the light fitting. Will that take the place of sunshine/daylight as I really have nowhere else to put them in the house as they're so big. Their summer home is the conservatory but I think that's too cold in winter. Problems problems. 😢

.. Plants are like humans during winter.. Some grow like crazy, blooming and all, and some either look like a disaster or simply die (OK, maybe humans don't die because of winter, but they certainly look like it.. I know that I do)..

@@puddsmax863 After the extremely bad storm we had a few years ago the weather got crazy. It gets cold enough where after it rains it freezes now. That storm knocked trees down everywhere, cut power all over the city, and flooded many areas. Some people had no utilities for over several months 😞
