I just swapped out the strings and ran. I think in this instance I focused on 10 gauge E strings and then bought a 10 gauge 12 string set and pulled the strings from that that I needed. @UCnyw8oMoO3sasA7dwnrOmIA David Matthews uses a lower pitched version of that tuning called "Raised B Tuning" aka "Baritone Nashville Tuning with a High F#" & sometimes an Octave4Plus .006 High B. You can use on your Acoustic Guitar Aquila 154C High B Tuning Nylon Strings & they're under fairly low tension so they won't break alot.

@UCnyw8oMoO3sasA7dwnrOmIA If you replace the B String with an Octave4Plus 6 Gauge High B, now you're in an Updated version of Nashville Tuning called "New Nashville Tuning" aka "Extra High Strung Guitar" cause you'll get some extra high Jangle. I think I just have a little bit of an analog chourus on that comes from my line 6 that I'm playing through. I also figured out that the same guitar strums through comfortably numb during the chorus. I tried to listen into the music it sounds like a 12-string but not really then I realized it's the same guitar setup. What a difference it makes. It really makes that part of comfortably numb sound legit.

I'm playing through a Line 6 Vetta 2 cab and using the 73 Highway amp cab which is tries to be a 73 Hi-Watt. It does a pretty good job at capturing the essence of the Hi-Watt he used. I also have some large room reverb, Chorus, and a little phaser like you said. In the video that's what I had on. I've changed how I pull this sound off for when we do it live. I just use some chorus, reverb, and analog delay. It's very clean without that phaser wobble. However, when I do the lead I switch to a Ram's Head Big Muff with an Electric Mistress Flange mixed with it to give it that awesome sound. The Scrip Phaser 90 (orange with the cursive on it) is the best phaser for their stuff though. It's my secret recipe for DSOTM. Also, sometimes I have that phaser 90 on for a lot of his leads. It's either Rams Head Big Muff with Phaser/Flange or both like I do for Have a Cigar lead. thanks for watching.

Excellent video! I am just a beginner with my new Schecter so this is probably a stupid question but what do you set your amp to to get the sound exactly?
@ryanguitargodfrey
8 ай бұрын
Schecters are awesome guitars. This is just a clean sound with a little bit of phaser and a little bit of chorus. Chorus gives you that dreamy sound and the phase or gives you that slow wobble that you hear like a sine wave. Also you always have a tiny little bit of delay repeating in time with whatever speed you're playing It really cleans a lot of stuff up. Not too much to the point where you can hear it just enough. Recreating some of David gilmour's sounds are so difficult because he used a Yamaha RA 200 rotary speaker cabinet on a lot of his sound. His effects have this weird random wobble to it that is extremely difficult to recreate in software. It's why people kind of get close but never really nail it. Welcome to the rabbit hole of guitar playing lol

It's a Mexican strat. It's nowhere near as nice as the silver American big apple strat with the double humbuckers that you see in my other videos, but it does the trick. I always use it for a special tunings. At one point in its life it was tuned to C with thick strings on it when I was in a cover band, and now it's my high-strung guitar for this song and the backup strum for comfortably numb that you hear. it's not a 12 string in the background it's a guitar strung like this also. 😎

@ryanguitargodfrey
8 ай бұрын
You have to buy an electric guitar 12 string set. When you buy a 12-string set it comes with a normal A string, and then an extremely skinny A string. I don't know the exact octave difference but I would assume they're about two octaves higher than the normal size A string. You use the skinny one. So you end up with all unwound strings on your guitar. I actually use 10s So, the thick E is a 10 guage, then the A string is an 18 gauge and the D string is a 12 gauge, then the g-string is an 8 gauge, then the B string is a 13 gauge and the E-string is a 10 gauge. So, you end up with 10, 18, 12, 8, 13, 10 😎 I personally use the diadero XL 150 12 string set. If you buy one of those it gives you everything you need
