Glad to see you using a helmet on this review. With those speeds, it’s easy to hit a bump or turn wrong there for hitting the ground. Safety first. Thanks.

Yeah.. Normal bikes around the neighborhood I usually just ride without a helmet but powered e-bikes and the high speeds they can attain .. It just makes sense and plus viewers have really stressed that I should wear one as a responsible e-bike reviewer - Thank you' - Joey

Joey- I’ve watched all of your videos for the past few years. I’ve come to know how you interpret information, reason and reach conclusions. You can clearly explain your decision process. I think that you’d be a valuable contributor as some type of elected government official. A position faced with making sound decisions on behalf of the citizens, in a wide variety of situations. Perhaps a mayor.

So I've watched probably 10 or 12 reviews on this bike, and yours was definitely the best overall! You covered a couple things nobody else had, and more importantly, didn't sound like you were in a hurry through the entire video. I have to buy through Best Buy, because I've got enough gift cards to actually buy one for myself and another for my wife, but I've got a friend whom I know is going to want one as soon as he sees mine, so I will make sure he uses your link when he buys his! Thanks for all the information and for getting me even more excited about this bike lol

@JLawL

@@Phazewunfx Yeah! First one came yesterday, second one comes tomorrow! I can't see anything getting much better than this in the $1500 ish price range in the folding style. I only got to ride around on it for half an hour or so last night, but it is very quick to take off - I hadn't changed the PAS levels, so 1 was at 8 mph - and has no issues with any hills that I could find in this area. When just using throttle up hill, I was topping out at about 9 mph, but keep in mind I'm about 215 lbs. I maxed out on flat ground at 23 mph with just the throttle. With PAS I hit 27 at a very casual pedaling speed. The front suspension is what I would expect to find on a typical $750-999 regular bike, it's cushy enough and does have a lockout. Rear suspension will definitely bottom out on anything more than a gravel ride, but it does take the sting out of the larger bumps. I'm going to add a seat post suspension to it as well. The anti-theft and tracking options work well. You can see a live map of where your bike is, even if it's turned off, at all times. It was one of the main reasons I chose to go with Heybike. We also got them for roughly $1150 each with my wife's employee discount. Had they had the Horizon, I would have probably gone with that. I would say if you're wanting a folding bike, this is probably as good as it gets. If you don't care about the folding function, the Heybike Horizon or Brawn are better options if only for the 24" x 4" tires, making the bumps that much smoother.

I, too, am glad to see you wearing a helmet. Also glad to see someone else using the "walk/don't walk" pedestrian signals. I was told by another cyclist, that "real cyclists" don't use those signals. BTW I have a TerraTrike recumbent trike - started off riding 25 miles, now up to 55 miles each time I go riding. Also, I usually keep it in the 2nd gear on the PAS, and gear 6 or 7 on the derailleur side.

That Heybike Tyson frame appears to be carbon fiber. However, based on information on their website it seems to be magnesium. I’m guessing a magnesium casting. Can someone provide any additional insight on the frame material and manufacturing method? It’s a beautiful bike.

Hi - It definately isnt carbon fiber. I believe its aluminum alloy of some type as a magnet doesn't stick to it. It really is a nice looking bike, I gotta admit it. Love the color schematics and the tech incorporated into it - Joey

Joey - could you do a review (or some research) on how you'd go about getting standard repairs and the costs associated? For example, you blow a tire. Or the brakes need to be replaced. Wondering if this is like getting a Tesla where any kind of repairs are pretty costly. Great reviews. You've certainly become the go-to e-bike reviewer. Your garage must be full! lol

Well as far as repairs.. I have to do all the work. I can bring my bike into a bike shop buy its hit or miss if they wanna touch it or not... since these bikes are more or less UNKNOWN BRANDS - The only ones they will touch are LECTRIC ebikes because they are an American based company out of Phoenix and they have parts on hand with warranties... All the other bikes are buy at your own risk.. - Joey

@@VegasDtech Local older gentlemen that owns a bicycle repair shop here in town has a few different types of E-bikes he just got them and been selling them like hot cakes. ive been going up there sence the 90s getting bikes now im getting bikes for my kids and he had one on display and i took it out and played with it. i enjoyed it. And Yes it was a green Tyson HeyBike, 48v fat tire E-bike i got it to about 27-28 mpg. was a sweet bike. road it around in town for a while just playing with it. this was the 1st e bike id ever been on. it was pretty sweet setup honestly. and if i lived in more of a city or suburb area id totally suggest an e bike for commuter or grocery runner or things like that. they make a mars as well its the entry level model i believe. not ever messed with one but im sure it would be enjoyable as well.

Hey Joey, I watched a couple of your e-bike reviews & based on your experience between the Heybike Tyson & the Lectric 3.0 which bike did you prefer or would recommend?
@VegasDtech
9 ай бұрын
The Lectric 3.0 - has US based customer service and the local bike shops will work on them if something were to break/fail... The other bikes' the bike shops shy away from because it can be a headache for them to locate parts and deal with a purely ON LINE customer support. The Tyson is a beautiful bike! Powerful! - It feels pretty heavy if you are gonna fold it up and move it.. The Lectric is very popular as I see people using them all over my neighborhood.. It comes down to "how comfortable are you working on the bike if something breaks?" - Joey

Hello - My wife is a small lady about 5 feet and she is not very strong. My mother is 72 and she enjoys a e-trike! 3 wheel. It has a nice basket carrier in the back and my mom can ride around and pick up the mail down the street and if there is any packages.. put them in the Basket.. - This might be an option as its much safer - Joey

Just remember that a normal pedal only bicycle helmet will NOT protect you at the speeds as E-bike usually travel at. The standards that a bicycle helmet must meet to be certified are abysmally low. If I were going to ride an E-bike at speed I'd get an approved motorcycle/moped helmet.
