After a lot of testing, I have found out, that the Caddx Tarsier is causing a lot of RF noise that affects Long Range Receivers at the 900 Mhz Frequency. I even couldn't get a GPS Module working, because the RF Noise of Caddx Tarsier also affects the GPS. After unplugging the Caddex Tarsier the GPS instantly worked and has found satellites. I have tried to cover the Caddx tarsier and the GPS Module with copper shielding foil, unfortunately, it wasn't successful.

HI, is it possible to install GPS when i also have the DJI Caddx Vista in my Sector 132? Or is there not enough space for this module. And WHEN its possible, where should i connect it?
@TorbanDallas

@@Luigy79 yes it should be possible and even work fine, i do not expect emi noise issues with the caddx vista. You only need to get 5v gnd and rx tx. Get power where the receiver is connected and tx rx 5 or 6 - just use a free uart.

Range issue could also be because of the caddx tarsier. Poor shielding of this camera and stack could cause interference with your radio system. I have a geprc cinepro with the same camera. Although I fly in 2.4ghz, my experience that if receiver is close to the stack of camera the range is very poor.

That's interesting. The Receiver is placed in the back and it works on 900mhz. Wifi of the tarsier was disabled. But i will keep your information in mind, thanks.

Hey, after installing a GPS module i was wondering that it didn't work, i didn't get any satellits, after unplugging the Tarsier the gps module instantly startet to work correctly, so your theorie is right, and after a lot of testing and reaching i was able to verify it. The Caddx Tarsier even causes Failsafe with TBS Crsf Receivers and causes a lot of issues with GPS Modules. Apparently the Caddx Tarsier causes some RF Noise close to the GPS and Long Range Receivers Frequencies.

Yes, I have the geprc cinequeen with the runcam hybrid and it doesn't happen to me. I think it is because of the bluetooth module that has the caddx installed, which makes it very noisy and blocks other systems such as the receiver or the gps, regards!

I am guessing the antenna was obscured by the quad when you turned around. Also with the vibrations you were getting i would also suspect you had a lot of electrical noise going on also which wont help. Honestly i have seen people struggle with getting good range on the crossfire system with the tango 2 on non diversity receivers. I really think that quads are extremely noisy environments and you need to get the antenna as far from the quad as possible. Also maybe consider using esc's Drone Mesh has tested to be very low noise. Some fpv cameras have been known to cause interference on long range systems something else to consider.

@@TorbanDallas yesterday I flew with 10mW on R9 with internal battery. And my cells inside the radio were getting weak about 7.2V. I experienced a warning RXLOSS for about 1 second but didn't loose control. I am using diversity antenna on my quad and the fig.8-antenna on my radio. It happened around some large trees. I have installed a GPS, works on Uart3 and 6, 3 was used for smart audio, so i have used uart 6 on my one. You can use 5v and GND from the receiver or the VTX power pads. But GPS doesn't work when the Caddx Tarsier is connected. The RF Noise of this cam kills the GPS and even affects the LR Antenna. You probably will get the same issues with a CRSF Rx. Other HD /FPV Cameras seem to be less noisy and apparently better for this purpose of flying LR.

Throw that R9 system in the garbage, go with something 100% of people who use it trust: crossfire. I've got 3 quads on R9 and NONE of them give me a trustworthy RSSI. As I first start out low RSSI and then if I pass close by myself enough times the RSSI jump to 99%, what crap! All software same version etc.. I have crossfire and love it, consistency = greater trust in your equipment, period.

Crossfire is also not working right out of the box with the tarsier camera! It produces so much HF noise, that even the good crossfire RX has issues. The HF noise is coupled directly into the reveiver itself. You can fix the issue bei wrapping the receiver in copper tape, soldering a wire to the tape and directly to GND of the tarsier board for ground. Make sure your receiver has heat shrink around or else the copper tape will short it out.

? 🤔 What lesson? To better use inav for long range? Or to Update your Hardware to get rid of the failsafe Bug? To use frequencie matching antennas? Or to buy crossfire ? The fact that tbs receivers antennas Fall complete off for no reason is funny as Fuck. Never had an Hard failsafe with 868 and matching yellow Marked antennas The failsafe Bugs from frsky Happen for 0,2sec. If you raise the failsafe time to 0,4 sec. Than you have just a little timewindow without control. And Till you realize you had an failsafe. You had your control already back
