OK, now realize that THAT was a live performance. One take, two cameras. See the mic on his hospital gown? Notice how he unplugged the guitar before the ending monolog? 🤯 🤯 🤯 🤯 🤯 🤯 🤯 🤯 This man just shifted the whole paradigm, redefined what "good" music is, freed us from the soulless, autotuned crap that's been repackaged & served to us over & over & over again for the past decade or so. He's made music human again, given art a soul. Welcome to the rabbit hole. Get comfortable. You're going to be here for a while. What would you like to hear next? Rock? Reggae? Rap? Perhaps punk? No, pop? A good power ballad? Would you like to hear him sing more? Play guitar? Bass? Beatbox? He makes his own beats, too. Or sometimes raps over other artist's tracks. His mother is a vocal coach. His dad is a musician & filmmaker who has worked in the mental health industry. Ren himself studied "musical performance" at university. His style of musical storytelling is aptly called "BARDCORE," but he excels at any genre he attempts. That's likely because (on top of being formally trained, & raised in an ideal environment by creative parents), he's a STREET BUSKER from Brighton, England. He was discovered & signed by Sony around a decade ago, then promptly dropped when he became ill with Lyme's Disease, which was misdiagnosed as mental illness & treated thusly for 8 years while the Lyme's continued to ravage his body & damage his brain. A doctor in Belgium finally caught it. He's currently in Canada undergoing a second round of stem cell therapy after seeing marked improvement after the first. He will be the spokesperson for your generation. Protect him at all costs. It's only once, maybe twice, in a person's lifetime that an artist like Ren comes along. I've never been so grateful to be alive to experience this as it unfolds. 9.6 million views last time I looked. With no record label to back him, no push from radio, no backroom handshakes or payola (allegedly), none of the things that usually go into making a hit song a hit. A 9 minute, 20 second LIVE performance that scarcely felt like 4 minutes because it's so compelling, so brilliant. He's got quite a few videos out with his band, The Big Push. They are all incredible musicians & vocalists. His collabs with Sam Tompkins & duets with Chinchilla (keep an eye on that girl too) are not to be missed. It's feeling a lot like Brighton is gonna be the new Seattle or Athens, GA. There's definitely something special going on in that beach town! Someday you will tell your grandchildren what music was like before Ren. And they won't believe you. THIS changes EVERYTHING forever (well, not really. Music trends are cyclical, but experience a hard restart like this, maybe 3-4x each century). You will never be able to listen to what they've been passing off as music the same way again. Ren just raised the bar, just when we needed it most! Welcome aboard. Glad you could join us! ✌🏼

Ren is a Poet, a Singer, a Rapper, a Musician, a Composer, a Songwriter, a Producer, an Actor......an Artist. Keep going down the Ren rabbit hole, there's literally nothing he can't do. This video is completely LIVE....No pre-recorded music and lip-syncing here. Don't miss out on the fact that Ren was also in a band...."The Big Push". They too have lots of videos, mostly of Busking (street performing). Ren needs all of our Thoughts, Prayers and Love right now. At 17, Ren had been discovered by Sony Records, Busking in England. They signed him to a contract and he was on his way. As he was recording his first album, he got incredibly sick. He went to the doctors, complaining of severe pain all over his body and in his joints. The Doctors could find nothing wrong with him and insisted that it was all in his head. Ren spent the next 8 years of his life, looking for answers, going to hundreds of different doctors. The medical community kept saying it was ALL in his head and treating as much, with Psycho-Active/Tropic drugs for his "Mental Disorder". Meanwhile, Ren was stuck in bed 23 hours a day because of the overwhelming pain. All of this nearly drove him crazy as he KNEW he was experiencing the pain that they said was made up. A few years ago, he found a Doctor in Belgium that finally diagnosed Ren with Lyme Disease. He had his answer. However, because the Lyme disease went untreated for 8 years, it Ravaged his body to include his brain. He even received Stem Cell treatment a while ago, but the damage was already done. He is currently in Canada, for 6+/- months, to try and repair some of that damage. This will include multiple surgeries. He is there by himself, without friends or family to comfort him through this grueling ordeal

I wrote this introduction to Ren when I first discovered him earlier this year, as there wasn’t a Wikipedia entry for people to look him up prior to March 2023. I have posted this info to every “Hi Ren” reaction I have come across since, and I hope it will be of some use to the uninitiated. “Hi Ren” is the song that put Ren on everyone's radar since December; it went viral and has garnered over 9 million views since its debut, but he has been creating great music for more than ten years. Ren’s music videos are generally recorded live, often in a single take, although not necessarily the first take, and from various camera angles. His release, "Sick Boi," is almost another chapter to "Hi Ren." Many of Ren’s songs resonate with people because he addresses struggles that many others face every day. Ren is an independent artist/singer/songwriter/busker from Brighton, UK. He plays multiple instruments (acoustic, electric, and bass guitar, piano, drums), has impressive vocals, is an excellent storyteller, and is quite the philosopher and poet. He is considered by many a modern-day bard; he calls his music “bardcore.” Ren’s earliest recordings on KZitem are from his time in a band called “Trick The Fox,” consisting of Ren and his buddies Charlie and Tommy. Unfortunately, the band performed only briefly due to Ren’s onset of health issues. They are very talented. A fun clip to watch is “The Mash Up.” Ren’s trilogy "The Tale of Jenny/Screech/Violet" has been likened to a Shakespearean tragedy and is a prime example of his genius; it is a master’s class in storytelling and also showcases his guitar skills. The three acts are haunting, and the conclusion will catch you off guard. The trilogy needs to be watched in the order given, as this is the flow of the storyline and is best watched as a whole rather than piecemeal. Ren’s collaborations with Chinchilla (“Chalk Outlines,” “How to Be Me,” “Sexual Healing,” “One Dance/Drunk in Love”) are beautiful and showcase his singing voice. His live music videos are especially impressive. Ren's personal reflections are threaded through many of his songs; "Insomnia," "Depression," “Diazepam," “Penitence,” “Dear God,” “Heretic,” “Dominos,” his "Freckled Angels" album, just to name a few, all deserve a listen. His song "Money Game" (Part I & II) is another recommendation, although it is less of a personal song than it is an indictment of greed and the resulting injustices in this world. Ren’s Hip Hop/Rap style songs are all worth checking out if you enjoy this genre; they are pretty amazing. Check out “The Hunger,” “Genesis,” “What You Want,” “Losing it (FISHER rap retake),” “Right here, right now (Fatboy Slim one shot retake),” "Life is Funny," “Love Music (Parts 1, 2, and 3),” “Crucify Your Culture,” “Power,” his latest release, “Bittersweet symphony (The Verve retake),” and his latest release "The Illest Of Our Time," just to name a few. Ren's performances with Sam Tompkins (“Blind Eyed,” “Earned it /Mans World / Falling,” “Walking on the moon/No Diggity,” “Feeling Good/Trouble So High/Masterblaster (Jammin'),” “Latch,” “Wild Thoughts/Crazy in love (Live Session),” “What Went Wrong” Part I&II) are definitely a must. Also, his collaborations with Eden Nash (“Humble,” “Ocean”), Bibi (“Crutch,” “Ahiahiaoha”), Molly McKinna (“Penitence”), Orlean ("Jessica"), his former bandmate Romain Axisa (“French Song”), are all great. Last but not least, Ren’s busking sessions with Liv Sangster are awesome. I recently discovered that Ren also recorded a cover of “Can't Help Falling In Love (Elvis Cover),” that is simply beautiful. "The Big Push" (Ren Gill, Gorran Kendall, Romain Axisa, and Glen Chambers) busking sessions, concerts, and live recordings all are amazing and well worth checking out. All but the drummer sing lead vocals at times. Their covers of "I Shot the Sheriff/Road to Zion/Hip Hop," "Wade in the Water/Nina Simone/Trouble so Hard," "Watch Out," “War Pigs,” “Roadhouse Blues,” "My Generation," “Paint It Black,” "An Englishman in New York," “Bongo Bong” are awesome. On “These Boots Are Made For Walking,” “Praise You” (Fatboy Slim Cover), “What Kind Of Woman Is This,” all three take a turn singing. The songs "Oh My Woman," “Swan Song,” “Sweet Little Lady," "It's Alright," “Dignity,” and so many others are equally impressive. The band, at least for the time being, performed their last official busking session and gave their last concert in September of last year (2022) due to the fact that Ren was leaving for Canada to undergo specialized medical care and surgeries for his multiple health issues. In anticipation of his stay in Canada, Ren prepared some music ahead of time to be released over the next six months that he expects to be gone. He released “Sick Boi” and “Bittersweet Symphony (The Verve retake),” which is another masterful work. Ren just released his newest song, “Illest Of Our Time,” on his birthday, March 29.

Another Ren convert 👏👏👏♥️ He’s an amazingly unique artist. The likes of which, I’d say, we’ve not experienced since Freddie Mercury. Well rounded musician, writer, producer, composer, rapper, singer of ballads, reggae, soul, classic rock and more, he even does his own beat boxing on his tracks. With classical and operatic touches, and loads of pop culture references in all of in his works. He even plants little Easter eggs in all his songs of references to his own earlier works, like the seashells thing is from his Money Game song… You can’t box this guy in. I’m just glad he’s graced everyone with his gift. His talent is immeasurable.

I hear Ren speaking at the end, "I shouted out into an empty room, Into a blank canvas, that I would defeat the forces of evil" and when you quickly responded with, "Great job!" I nearly died. I started laughing while swallowing my apple juice and had it coming out of my nose and I was choking and laughing at the same time. Then my stupid chihuahua thought it was play time and started jumping on my stomach and chest. Either that or he was trying to speed up my death, who knows. My Moods have cost me! I have lost loves, jobs and friends. From as far back as I can remember I've always had dark moods. I've gone from lite/light happy days then I get triggered and I go deep into the dark. This has caused many a strife in my life. First Marriage failure, job loss, friends also. Ren's song Hi Ren hit me in the heart and I could relate to it so much. Especially the line "it was a pendulum eternally swaying from the dark to the light" I've shared this song with my family and friends and no one seems to relate. I like seeing the reaction videos on KZitem and i liked yours a lot. As I've got older I've learnt to recognise the slide into the dark and I can usually talk myself out of it back to the light. I've been so happy that I've felt close to God and I haven't been able to stop grinning. At the other end of the pendulum I've slipped so far into the dark that I've blocked people out of my life and I've wanted to end it. Now, I'm so glad that I am still here. I have a great family and I try to enjoy my days and stay positive. Some days are harder than others but I feel that I never slide as far into the dark as I used to.

If people just want to hear the song, they should just go watch the original. I watch reactions to see people experience the joy of discovery. however that manifests. I believe that in Money game Part 2 theres a rhyme scheme he does on the tongue twister She Sells Sea Shells by the Seashore, and the mention of that in this song is more a reference to his rhyme scheme ...as well as eminem (pretty sure that his play on it in MG part 2 is inspired by the eminem line) because he cant be happy with just 1 meaning

I’ve been watching some reactions to this song then checking out the other content folks are putting out and I see you have Hearthstone stuff. This is a weird cross section of things I enjoy.

So. Hey there... I checked out your channel because I like your name. I subbed because you noticed the nylon strings being played...i see you can appreciate. I have to give you some props.👏 How you managed to maintain composure throughout this. (I was sobbing like a baby by the end)😭 Me being 53-it's kinda sad I know...but it is what it is!🤗 Imo. This is one of a kind and Ren is a once in a lifetime. Can't wait to see your input on many more things...I have a feeling you are a one of a kind as well! Peace and love always until there is no more!😊❤

Lovely reaction. Keep it up Walter. Was it cut short at the end though? Would have loved to hear more...

I actually had some pretty big feelings that I wasn’t quite sure I wanted to be shared. It was cut short but I will absolutely be happy to rehash those in another video, that particular moment might need to stay with me though.

We have the potential for the divine and for evil within us freewill gives us the power to choose. The Devil is "The Accuser" not just before God, for as long as you have consciousness, day & night it accuses your light.
