Consider the fact that Turkey didn't award any points to Israel in all the 80's and the only country to do so while giving Luxembourg 12 points - i would say this won. nevertheless the song is a victory of it self to Israel and they Jewish people singing the Israel is alive in the very same spot that 50 years earlier the Nazi party raised to power that annihilated the Jews was and 11 years earlier 11 of the participants to the Olympic games in Munich from Israel was murdered.

38 years after the Nazis tried to exterminate the Jewish people on earth, Ofra Haza stood on the Eurovision stage in Munich, Germany, along with 5 other escorts dressed in yellow, a memorial to the yellow badge - and a total of 6 on stage, a memorial to the 6 million Jews who died in the Holocaust , And sang the words of Ehud Manor "Live, live, live, yes, I am still alive" to the German people and to the whole world. I think this is one of the craziest events, not in the history of the Eurovision Song Contest, not in the history of the Jewish people, in the history of all mankind. When they tried to destroy him, he stood on a stage in the country that tried to destroy him, and sang to him, in free words, "Zubi on you and on your face, I'm still alive, youre plan did not go, a 'final' solution, you will make pickles, this is the song Grandpa sang to Dad yesterday, And now I, here, live, there is no Your Pace. ' Whenever I think that something is impossible, that something can not be done, that there is no hope, I remember this amazing moment, and realize that not only are we a strong people, and not only that we, as my father says, "do not remember, but also do not forget", we have Even the best sense of humor in history, and that the best revenge, is served cold - and in poetry kzitem.info/news/bejne/jpp93GSKcYiYom0

*Hear my siblings* (shimo èhai) *I'm still alive* (Anee od Hai) *And both my eyes, still lifted towards light* (Ushtey eynuy, od nisà-ot la'or) Apart from the obvious meaning of Jewish people representing their young independent state despite the Nazi genocide, saying, not only you didn't annihilate all of us, you also didn't break my spirit or hope. There's also another sad and less aggrandized meaning; After the holocaust there was the radio and newspaper "Section of Seeking Relatives." A broadcaster or journal ads would name the surviving advertee, his contact and whereabout, and whom they seek 😢 Survivers in Israel would put the radio on listen with an iota of faith, hoping maybe their siblings or any relatives survived the Nazi death camps against all odds and are looking for them. A lot of families reunite that way. A lot didn't. The lyrics are also somewhat reminiscing of the Section of Seeking Relatives radio hour.

I will sing non-stop, will spread my hands, to my friends who are overseas, i ask and pray, it's good that the hope isn't lost yet... alive alive alive, yes i'm still alive, this is the song that grandpa sang yesterday to dad, and today i'm (singing), i'm still alive alive alive, the nation of Israel is alive, this is the song that grandpa sang yesterday to dad, and today i'm (singing). Hear my brothers, i'm still alive, and my 2 eyes are lifting towards the light, so all of my brothers, and all of my guests, and my sons who request to come back, i ask and pray, it's good that the hope isn't lost yet... alive alive alive, ye's i'm still alive, this is the song that grandpa sang yesterday to dad, and today i'm (singing). i'm still alive alive alive, the nation of Israel is alive, this is the song that grandpa sang yesterday to dad, and today i'm... alive, alive, alive... i'm still alive alive alive!

escLIVEmusic1, what's your take on why this orchestra were particularly outstanding (and do you have a year where you think they were better?). I think this song is possibly the finest moment by any orchestra in the contest's history.

I'm going to jump in here. I'm not sure what ARD did with the sound mix, but there's such a lovely, warm "punch" to the sound mix. But the Dieter Reith Orchestra absolutely lift the roof off of every song in the contest in 1983.

it has no political references to whatever you are talking about. It is random as saying "Well that aged like wine" on a Russian music video. stfu

@@itsdramahere No Political reference? Israels contribution to ESC in Germany is basically 40 years after the Holocaust 'We are still alive!'. Very political!
