Thanks! We're convinced there's no such thing as a bad gondola ride. Cheers!

You have the pronunciation correct. I was impressed because I've heard some really butchered ways people have tried! I listened to one video that I was wondering why didn't he ask a local instead of mispronouncing it through his entire video? Glad you enjoyed your visit here.

Thank you! Though, we have to admit that we've managed to butcher some other names elsewhere... Live and learn!

Some of my best childhood memories are here. I’m forever connected to this place. We rode rented trail horses up to Ice Lake and my Dad got saddle sores on his rear. He didn’t have much padding back there. lol There was a giant metal slide near the campground that kids would go down in gunnysacks. I went down (with permission) unsupervised on a Monday morning. What the adults didn’t know was that teenagers had used wax on the slide over the weekend, so it was extra slippery. I spun around and landed on my face on some rocks at the bottom. I was 10. No adults were around. I was pretty messed up and delirious. I crawled to a little offshoot of the river and stuck my broken face in the cold, cold water because I knew that cold would help. A stranger came and helped me and found my folks in the lodge in the bar. The 1970’s were awesome! LOL

Nice! I think that giant metal slide is still there. Though we didn't go down it with gunnysacks 🙂 It's a special place for sure! We'd love to go back someday and do a lot more hiking.

Well you did it again. Finding an ever better view of our great country. What a special ride on that tram. What was the temperature at the top? This looked like so much fun!

Thanks! It was in the high 20's at the top but it felt a whole lot warmer than that when the sun was out. At this rate we may need to just go seek out every gondola ride in the country 😆

It's definitely one of those beautiful off the beaten path places. The tram was really unique being that it was soooo steep and pretty small! Add it to your list if you're passing through NE Oregon!

How cool you got to see the salmon! The campground is beautiful, but yes those views from above, just gorgeous! Thanks for sharing your amazing day Debbie and Stijn

The salmon in the river were a real unexpected surprise. The gondola ride was like something right out of Switzerland! Which I suppose is fitting because it was made by a swiss company. Thanks and thanks for watching!

I lived not far from there in Elgin .That is Gods country.Old growth forests were still there in the 70s.It was like walking into a cathedral.Cheif Josephs country Nez Pierce land.

That whole area is beautiful! It's still somewhat secluded by today's standards. You really have to drive a long way in to get there. Did the old growth forest get logged?

How come it is not pronounced "Wall-oh-wa?" That's how we'd say it where I live. Anyway, the scenery was spectacular no matter how you say it. Thanks!

As we understand it, it's a Nez Perce word. Either way it's a really neat place to visit!
