I'm about to purchase a dui drysuit. I was wondering which dui model you went with and which bootie option? As always, a fantastic, beautiful video.
@BlueWorldTV
11 ай бұрын
So I actually have two DUI suits. I have the CF200 crushed neoprene which I generally wear diving in New England because it's really tough. I also have a TLS (trilaminate) which I bought primarily for travel because it's light and dries fast. A trilaminate is never as warm as a neoprene suit, so you need thicker undergarments in cold water. So if you are primarily going to fly to places with your drysuit, I would probably go with trilaminate but if you are diving it locally, a crush neoprene is tougher and warmer. As for the boots, I tried rock boots and didn't like them. It's a clever solution to a non-existent problem. I like regular attached drysuit boots.

Beautiful place! I noticed that you have an extra weight on your ali80 cylinders. How big is it? Do you have to adjust the cylinder on the sliding d-ring with that? Or the trim just stays the same all along the dive as it is usual with ali30s?
@BlueWorldTV
Жыл бұрын
I put 1 kg (~2.2 pounds) on each tank because I had never dove with aluminum sidemount tanks and a drysuit. Turned out to be a bad idea for multiple reasons, but at least they didn't get floaty at the end of the dive. I don't recommend doing it. It's a line hazard and the trim on the tanks was too heavy at the beginning. At the end of the dive, the trim on the tanks was OK though.

Love the video and the cave but i have questions: 1) why was there no continuous guideline to the surface? 2) what are those 2 black tanks sticking out of Anton’s wing? 3) is tank trim a thing of the past for Anton? 🤣🤣🤣
@CaveDivingPortugal
Жыл бұрын
Thanks for your questions. 1. For safety reason for swimmers in the pool. They do not see the line, they do not recognize where the entrance to the cave is 2. I use one 2L tank to inflate my dry suit, another 2L tank is for inflating my bcd and for my rebreather when I need to change Trimix to the Air. 3. For some reason, I did not care about the position of my tanks for a short period of our dive time doing more priority things. You can see the perfect position of my tanks before and after that time.
@ftothel794

@@CaveDivingPortugal thank you for your response!! Please, don't be offended by my comments.... we all have our tanks out of trim at points. I'm also guilty of that. I'm a multi-stage cave diver and am not used to diving without a guideline to the surface. I understand the permanent line should not be visible to swimmers but I've never dove without laying line from open water to the main line. I'd love to go to Portugal and dive with you guys! Grande abraço!

As long as the neck seal is nice and straight so it doesn't leak, the drysuit keeps you 100% dry. The neck seal can be a little tricky sometimes. If it's not perfect, sometimes you get a little leak and some drips come in. Usually not too much water.

@@BlueWorldTV Good time! In more detail, I live on the Crimean Peninsula, we have about 1,500 registered caves, a small part of which have siphons, or are source caves. The average annual water temperature in our caves is +8.8 degrees Celsius, most of our caves have poor visibility and low-flow, not wide passages with fairly thick clay deposits in the bottom. Typically, most siphons are accessible using caving equipment and ropes. We dive using a sidemount suspension and cylinders with a volume of 7 liters 300 bar. Due to rather complex logistics, larger volume cylinders are not used as a rule. Some of my friends started using sidemount rebreathers, I use open circuit. We plan the next training exit in 10 days, to the Yeni-sala 3 cave, which has several siphons with a maximum depth of 47 meters, the last one has not yet been passed. Cave diving is not very popular here, unfortunately, especially in the Crimea, it is more of a sport than a pleasure))

@BlueWorldTV
Жыл бұрын
It's interesting...we didn't mention it in the video because it would take too long. For the longest time, the only entrance to the cave was in the air chamber that we popped up into (that's why you can see a ladder in there). You had to climb up the cliff with gear and then through a crack and lower it to the water. But they felt the spring coming out of the rocks in the bottom of the pond and opened that opening up enough to get divers through, so they could swim in from the pond (much easier). That tiny entrance we swim through is technically man-made.

For Todd and I personally, we were both inexperienced with drysuit diving using aluminum sidemount tanks (we had always used steel which is heavier), and I thought I should put a little weight on the tanks. That turned out to be a terrible idea I would never do again for multiple reasons.

@@BlueWorldTV I would suggest buying some sumpUK sliding D-Rings with low profile d-rings. They are really good on the xdeep webbing and I use them with my sidewinder as well. Using weights on tanks is not a good fix. Steels and AL80s are way different when it comes to trimming out while diving.
