Wow, learned something new. I shoot at a 1,000 yd range in Piru CA and I couldn't figure out why I was missing high. I'll have to pay attention to the angle and plug it in the Kestrel. Thanks for the video.

Nicely explained, nicely demonstrated. Scottish Highland Stalking where some of the angles are extreme (where someone is holding onto your boots) then even at point blank short range there can be a couple of inches going high. Even shallow angles at long range make a difference. Like Cant, it can be quite deceiving, believe in your equipment. I've had cosign indicators on my long range rifles for years, however the new technology is even more accurate. Invest in the technology is one thing, but getting familiar with it and taking it into the field and doing the practical is the important bit. Shooting on at the zero range is jut the start line for long range shooting. Field shooting is a whole other level. Its fun, and fascinating. Who doesn't love hitting stuff....first round. Kestrel does the technology well.

For anybody wanting to understand in great detail "SIN", pick up any year, even if the copy of Machinery's Handbook is from the 1940's, the explanation of the math is so well explained, to help the imagination "just see it" so calculations in the head become a bit more easier. The Machinery's Handbook, most folks call it the Machinist's Handbook, same thing, in case you don't know of it, is a wonderful book of info. Although, not much changes in each addition or revision, which I think is up to 54th addition? I would encourage you to get one. The ability to order them on-line, simple enough, but, what I have noticed, about the 1960's, they removed a few things, that the older version did cover. There is a fair explanation as to why they removed some of the subjects, which is, that those odd subjects just do not pertain to real world applications by today's standards, often times due to a fantastic agency known as the EPA, (I say that jokingly, they are a good and a bad thing, the EPA).. for example, the newer versions of the book, do not cover the various types of brass and coppers alloy's and their formulations, as the EPA banned a few of the special formulations of alloy's due to how wonderfully healthy they were to not only manufacture into raw material bar stock, but the machining processes in secondary manufacturing was causing lung and blood issues, and over a 30 to 40 year span, about 190,000 men fell dead to the toxic nature of the alloys..... YIKES... So, if you have every heard the title/name : Yellow Brass, that is the safe stuff, that we all still use today.... BUT, back in the day, there was classifications by color, like Orange Brass, which, caused health issues, in due time, but kinda safe in short duration's of machining and welding/brazing. Then, there is the Holy-Grail of the brass family, Red Brass... that stuff was just naughty for men... But, outside of that alloy doing everything in its power to kill you, it was lovely to machine, with all the special properties for finish, tolerance and thermal stability, higher corrosion resistance and higher chemical resistance. And on a side note, just imagine every one of the Iowa Class Battleship's, (qty 6, only 4 ever finished and 4 ever set sail for battles) each one, had 27 tons of RED BRASS various machined parts through out the length of the vessel.... Pretty amazing and scary at the same time. I close with, do you need the older book? Nah, not really, but, if you are a junky for oddity knowledge, then, please, be my guest, and hit the second hand stores, swap meets, Goodwill's and Goodwill's the nation over always have a book section. Last resort, your local library, has the latest versions, on hand, and like my local library, they have every single version since dinosaurs walked the Earth.. Good luck, pardon the novel, just trying to defuse my mind, as I am panic shopping for a house, and not happy about it... I don't need to mention, buying a house in this market is horrible, yet, I don't have a choice.. I am grumpy about it... 20% down, there goes my saving... and nobody is willing by buy my arm or leg, soooo, saving is done and then to not having any cushion like that, is gonna bother me.. Been alive too long to know how life can come at a guy, when he has no cushion to buy some time... Or, I can turn a $1200 a month house payment into a $3100 a month house payment w/o a down payment and 99% interest rate... Which would you do? LOL... I am really thinking about liquidating everything, and going nomadic and riding out the rest of my days on a beach. Just, kidding, I am too old for that and too broken for that life style.. I better stop.. I am about to rant on politics. Thanks Democrats for wrecking the nation.. Okay, just one rant.....LOL.... Great video, perfect timing Mr. X-RING.. Thank you.

Good Morning, so now I have a dumb question, I haven't actually used my Terrapin X range finder enough to remember, but didn't my older Leupold range finder have a mode to display true horizontal distance built right into it? it may well have been designed for bow hunting rather than rifle work, but it seems like I remember a special mode for that. I don't have any long enough ranges to work the angles like you demonstrated so I can't actually prove or disprove anything, probably can't even make the first round hits at those ranges under PERFECT conditions. LoL Have a Great Day

This is funny cause when I went through the Special Forces Sniper Course (SOTIC) at Range 37...the cops would show up for high angle shooting off the 4 story shoothouse they have thinking they were doing high angle shooting and all the instructors were laughing at them bc the angle wasnt steep enough. U should do a video on loophole shooting from indoors...punch a hold in the wall and shoot through it. Not alot of people know that formula. U wouldnt believe how many guys from D Squadron at the Unit failed the shoot in.

Gravity affects the bullet most when it’s horizontal the more vertical you go up or down gravity will affect it less so when shooting up or down hill you will always impact high if you don’t compensate for the angle you are shooting on as xring pointed out you won’t have to compensate until you are abut 15 degrees up or down

So what do you do, when you can't afford those expensive range finders or that kestrel stuff. Nobody does video's on what the average guy has like me. I have a family to care for and a lot of those things are expensive. I would like to see a video on how you can shoot like that, with just average scope and bino's. I do like your video's though. But everyone of the video's I see about shooting, they always have those expensive equipment. Sometimes i feel we rely to much on technology.
