I'm a master woodworker and have had my own business now for 24 years. I wanted to give you a few tips. One, for your dowels, instead of cutting all of them one at a time, you can use painter's tape. Tape them all together tightly to make one cut and you're done. I would tape them at the top, middle and bottom just to ensure they're nice and secure. Also, to keep your hands from being so close to the blade you can clamp the dowels to the fence just like you clamp down your stop block on the other end. Two, to prevent tear out on your wood when drilling, especially after you've already painted or stained, place your piece on top of a scrap piece of wood and put painter's tape on top where you will be drilling and then measure and mark on top of the tape and start the drill off slow with little pressure and then you can drill at full speed. You really only have to do the latter when dealing with cheap, thin wood but the tape has been a woodworkers trick for as long as tape has been around, lol. My great-grandpa used masking tape back in his day. I really love your decor and videos. "High End" and "Dollar Store" in one sentence is an oxymoron but you actually make it happen. I do similar things with big box store's lumber, i.e. Lowe's, Home Depot, Menard's, etc. using their wood (it's all construction grade and not meant for decor or furniture), and I make high end stuff with that when my customers can't afford wood like walnut, maple, etc. It can be done but one has to have the skill set and you most definitely have the eye and the skills! Keep these videos coming. I love watching them when I'm taking a break in my shop. We have very similar styles. ❤

@michelleg1225 This is the first time I went through with a comment because I don't want to offend anyone. I feel it's so easy to do because people can't hear voices or see body language. I see it all the time in comment sections where someone says something completely harmless but someone else read it the wrong way and, boom... you have a KZitem argument. I'm so glad that my comment didn't come off as a kow-it-all or like I was scrutinizing her work because I think she's awesome.

If you have a miter saw and are going to cut dowels like she did for the first DIY, if you wrap a bunch of dowels tightly in painter's tape or some other strong adhesive tape you can cut a bunch at once, if you don't have a miter saw you can get a miter box saw for around $12 just about anywhere and with that you could probably cut 5 or 6 at the same time to save time.

Thanks for saying what I have been thinking all along... I see tons of Dollar Tree DIY videos that say "high end" in their title and although fun to watch, I would not consider most products from there to be "high-end"... I mean, clearly the hosts are very talented but I find the title misleading.-- having that said, I do think this video shows nice looking items.
@donnalongo1848
2 жыл бұрын
I think every crafter now says that, and some of them are great but some of them should not have the name "high end" next to it, I don't care about the Dollar Tree wording because you can make something from Dollar Tree look high end, but every single video says "high end" now... Waiting for the ads to end on this video, everything in the picture looks fabulous.

You have some great tools and I wonder why you wouldn't have a STEP BIT to drill the back of those holes? You would have had a beautiful clean hole for your knots. Look into those as they can be inexpensive drill bits and I have to say I use them so much in my projects, I couldn't live without them. Other than that, you did a great job on your video projects.

Some of the items I’ve never seen in Dollar tree. I’m guessing it’s a dollar general.

I really enjoyed this video! You’re a master at those power tools! One very important question tho, ARE You in Canada 🇨🇦? I’m in FL, but I’m from the West Coast. I’ve lived in or been to most of the States in the US. I’ve never seen a Dollar Store that had every item you said was from the Dollar Store. I noticed you didn’t say Dollar Tree so clearly it’s a different store. Canada has Dollar stores with so much more then DT. The wood frames to that box of blocks to even the dowel rods. I’ve never heard of those brands. That just has me really curious! You’re incredibly talented! And, I love that if you’re going to do something it’s clear you do it right! Again, great video! I enjoyed each of your projects very much
