I cleared 5'2, my own height, I worked for a few months and finally got it. Its so intimidating going up to the bar and jumping.

Kobe Jordan I am have just started and I am also only 11 years old and my best is only 3”8 and the bad always intimidates me and I really just have been having some bad meets when it comes to high jump which makes me not want to do it.

wow ur really good. and u wer probably getting tired towards the end. that always happens to me. but i think that ur last 3 steps could be faster and the last step has to be fast and powerful, other than jumping too far, u should try arching ur back. but hey!! there is something to work on :) but ur gr8. i measure in centimeters and i have jumped 145 I'm also in seventh grade but yea :)

I remember doing high jump in middle school, and I loved it. One time during the meet I had been frustrated because I hadn't been doing well that day and when I jumped my shoulder clipped the bar and I somehow managed to dislocate it. That was a pretty bad day, but thankfully I had done the rest of my events already

You need to get closer to the bar and you need to arch your back your going over and your back is kind of straight you need to bend it back when your top half get over. I'm 13 and I'm the best in Australia for my age. I jump 1.73m

Thats string tho. And it doesn't look like it would come off. And Tbh, If you're gonna practise make sure the string is PERFECTLY EVEN. Otherwise it wouldn't count.

i know this video was posted like 3 years ago but this may be useful. From my experience if you do exercises to strengthen your back it will help with your arch so you will maintain strength in your back and jump higher. Also try get more side on to the bar instead of changing your body direction while jumping. If you stand at the ideal jumping spot and walk back 14 steps from where you would start from (walk in the j bend) you will have a perfect position to start from so you will not take off to early, Also if you mark that spot then take 5 steps from the mark straight back from the jump you can run straight from there then follow your track toward the jump. hope this helps u or a friend :)

honestly the only thing is really you need to jump closer to the mat because of how far you are your arch and kick are good but they force your butt to hit the bar because of your distance youre jumping from

your are actually very good, im a high jumper too, im a guy and my best is 6'6". you already know but you curb is a little flat. and scoot in 6 inches and you will be perfect. your form wil come the longer you practice and keep jumping.

i just finished my seventh grade year, i had the same habit of not getting my steps right and jumping too early. rework your steps and practice on 4’7 as you’re reworking your steps. i got rid of that habit and my personal record is 5’2.

I find that with longer strides and if you jump a little further from the bar you can clear higher but thats from my own experience.

The bar is not high enough for her. Arching her back would only result in kicking the bar. Her coach needs to tell her not to look at the bar. He should also mark a small x on the mat and have her look back for that to help her sustain her arch. There is no need to bend at the waste... Simply tuck your chin and your body will follow the correct path.

Yea you are jumping way to far away from the bar you need to get a little close. You kind of have to find the sweet spot where you're not to close but not to far

@epatersonful well. that actually brings up a funny story when I was high jumping at a track meet and I fell on something hard and I tell e officials and then they pull out a bar from under the upper-mat. Haha atleast that one had some cushion, but I never really fell exactly on a bar. I couldn't get over 4 9" because I was always jumping too far from the mat but I really want to work on that during the summer. But track season is already over for my school :( but no I didn't have a bar

Dancing Watermelon well a real bar saggy in the middle which is where you are supposed to make ur attempt and it is better cuz it always goes down just a bit so it is a better attempt

I don't think ANYONE jumps with a full METAL bar. That's dangerous. Most bars are made of plastic

ConspicuousNinja Last year I did with a medal rod I hut myself.. The next day i got a purple bruise on my right theigh. maybe This year we"ll do it with a plastic one. because when we would practice it was plastic the the actual test was medal
