I just discovered and began watching/listening to your videos. Fantastic! I took vocal lessons from an excellent teacher as a teenager. Your teaching is so similar, but you are covering a broader range of topics. I have a mezzo voice and at least as a young person I had an unusually wide vocal range. My problems that plagued me, besides being a lazy student at that age, lol, were some problems with "breathiness" and also sometimes tending to "swallow" my voice. In retrospect I realize that I had a lot of chronic tension and anxiety , that at times affected my speaking voice in a chronically stressful environment. Many years have passed but I've always enjoyed singing and haven't at all for some time. I've decided to bring this back into my life because it's such a joyful form of expression and can really connect with the heart, even if one is just doing it alone. I'm much more relaxed as an adult but I'm eager to see how I can work with my voice and discover what my true singing voice is now and improving it. Thank you!

Victoria! No wonder you use VICTORIOUS in your description! This is the second video I have watched, OK a new one, but I will be looking at your others. Being soprano, my world is one full of high notes, but I also endorse singing the lower notes (I can just about reach C3 but cannot go lower) because I know you will understand when I say a "good" range is necessary. My genres are opera and musical theatre (though I sing some "easy listening" songs as well) so I know it is not enough to sing half a dozen high notes! So I simply adore singing and warm up for around 30 minutes, after my body warm ups and "pre-lim" vocal ones. But that aside, I love theory too because theory is important to singing as foundations are for building a house, so this is where you come in Victoria, you are teaching us that theory, but you are making it fun. Your singing at the end of the video was superb, you have a beautiful and crystal clear voice. Please don't give up - we need you!

Victoria, I watched and still watch your videos. I had to take a pause a while back though, because although I practice and do as you say, the change didn't really happen until I absorbed and completely understood what you meant by, for example, breath support. I think I watched that playlist four times, then it suddenly clicked 😃. I can support better, I can sustain the tone longer and it sounds brighter (almost to the end!)... It took a bit of time, but god did it change my life! The only thing I need to really work on is linking between high notes in chest and head voice.. I still squeeze my throat when I go high in chest voice. But I know that I got the best coach! 🤩❤️
@Victoria-Victorious
2 жыл бұрын
Sure! This is very common. Sometimes certain things in technique take a while to "click". It may be weeks, months (or even years for some singers). If you practice correctly, things will click when the body is ready and also, the progress happens *_gradually_* . Great to see you again!

You have a pro set of pipes and highly distinguishable from the rest on KZitem Thanks so very much for your passion and insight. Hey but as far as me although I can't sing yet I plan to and as I am always guilty for looking for the - between anal and retentive another window to see through the flesh might even illustrate for us the vocal chords in the same routine as a piano string we shorten them as we strive for the high notes and utilize the entire length as we sing as low as possible in the same routine a lower note longer vocal chord and piano string whereby increasing the sustain and or envelope of sound So as a soprano hits a high glass shattering note it takes for support to keep the vocal pipes primed because the high notes do not resonate or sustain at all in the same manner as the lows. Guy singing in a falsetto learned amongst the rudimentary essentials how to lean the chords in a way against the throat shortening the string like a capo on a guitar OK sorry for the tendentious rant and know I have much love for your voice and in the manner the services you provide There needs to be more singers

Hi Victoria, I’m so grateful for you and your lessons. I have problems with allergies, drainage, etc and do the typical lemon & honey, saline spray and gargling to help clear my voice. Any better suggestions? I recently joined Worship group at church, which is why I’m messaging you. The keys and range they sing in make it challenging for me, which is why I’m listening to you. I’m 60 and was in band and chorus in school and have always played instruments & sang, just not with a group, beside Cantatas at church. I sing Christian music and love the newer versions of the old Hymns, especially ace Ce Winans “Worthy of it All”, which I practice a lot using my voice. Hope to get a reply from you on Messenger, thanks for everything. You’re a wonderful Blessing 😮❤

Thanks so much for this great video, Victoria! I was wondering whether you could also cover belting in a future video? Also, will you perhaps release a couple of vocal analysis videos on some pop singers with good technique, such as Lara Fabian or Jennifer Hudson? And lastly, I noticed that the best sounding high note singers have a huge dip in their tongue the higher they sing whilst keeping their tongue fairly wide at the same time. Is this an indication of correct technique? And if so, is there a particular exercise that can help in achieving this? 🙏☺️

I will make a video on consonants. It is on my list. If you have problems, sing the line on a vowel or vowels and if easier, gently insert the consonant, making sure that you are not stopping the breath, overblowing, or getting tight at the consonant. Go back and forth from vowel only to adding consonant.

I’ve been frustrated with high notes sometimes really good but other times going thin, not quite clear. Maybe it is not getting the breath flow quite right I think particularly in the middle of a phrase. It’s not a horrible sound, it’s a sound that people sometimes use for effect, and you hear from even quite good singers, a little bit like it’s gone back into chest voice, lost its classical sound. It is somewhat like what Teresa Berganza is I think often guilty of. It is sometimes easier to get rid of at high volume, but maybe it’s just hidden. How do I get control of this? How does one get that so to speak smooth covered sound over the whole range, like Elina Garanca or Sarah Connolly.

Hi Victoria, I am impressed by your teaching and had subscribed to your singing program. I have this problem which is whenever I did your vocal exercises like humming or practise a open throat vowel, my voice or humming sound just sort of disappears when the notes get too high, I could feel a sense of strong pressure on my head. The humming sound or my voice would come back once it comes down and reaches my comfortable range. How do I improve on this issue?

I will make a video on this within the next 2 weeks. I do discuss vocal colors in the first 4 videos in this playlist: Better Singing Tone! kzitem.info/door/PLaWjWxiTysDDB0K_J9FKiiwSxcV65xjxh
