Hello Thomas, Good brand names can have still have several ranges of quality so rather then recommend a brand here's what I would say. Look on the labels and make sure the olives are coming from one country (mentioned in the video and important for freshness), see if the oil has a harvest date - another indication of freshness. Plus, if the label says DOP or DOC that's also a good sign. Because you were so good to ask about this I would like to give you my full course on olive oil. It has a downloadable check list that you can print off and take to the store. I just released the course and I'm offering it to a group in the UK as well Here's a link that will take you to the course. carolina-s-school-ae3f.thinkific.com/courses/high-polyphenol-extra-virgin-olive-oil When you get to the checkout put in this code to receive it free: freeoffer Let me know if you found it to be helpful. Hi Thomas, I'm pasting a check list for buying olive oil. I forgot I had it from a class I taught on olive oil. I know your comment was left some time ago and I did reply but this might also be of help if you still have questions. I gave it to another person who asked on KZitem. Check List for Buying Olive Oil See if there is a date somewhere on the back label for when the olives were harvested or packed. Nutrient value begins to decline after several months. Do not buy oil that is more than a year old. The bottle should be glass (not plastic) and should be dark in color to not allow light on the product which alters nutritional value. Look at the back label and see where the olives are coming from. It might say 100% Italian olives (or Spanish, etc.) which is good. Or it might have a code designating which countries the olives came from. Remember, pressing within hours to maintain freshness cannot happen when olives are shipped from all over the world before pressing. If the label says organic that is a good start. But it does not designate what process was used for extraction. If the bottle says DOP or DOC that is good too but again, doesn’t tell us what process was used. Be prepared to spend a little more on olive oil that will deliver the nutritional value you should be getting. While we do not have the designations and processes in place in the U.S. for perfect olive oil, find a small local olive oil store and ask for high polyphenol EVOO (extra virgin olive oil.) Visit the olive oil section at www.wholehealthlongevity.com to read a three-part series that provides much more about olive oil. You’ll be surprised at what you will learn!

Hello Surender, Thank you for your message. The only way to know the difference between any olive oil is to know what makes up quality. Whether it's CA or European olive oil you should know the freshness by knowing the harvest date, where olives are sourced from, how they are processed and more. Understanding good olive oil in general separates everything on the market. If you haven't done so yet please download the checklist.

@carolamendoladanca
2 жыл бұрын
Hello Trinity, Thank you for your comment and question. I'm glad I could answer your questions. The olive oil in the video was pressesd in Sardinia Italy and they do not export it. That's the case with 99% of the high quality olive oil that's produced in Italy. It's mainly used by the local people and doesn't leave the country. However, you can still find good olive oil by looking for a few things on the label. The details are more important than a brand label becasue I've noticed even good brands will produce and sell lower quality if/when they have it. Here are a few things that can be helpful: Definitely check to see if the olives are coming from one source and not various countries. Today olives are being shipped to Italy from other countries where they are pressed and packaged as "pressed in Italy" but olives shipped from other countries are not at their freshest peak for quality and nutritional value. Also if they oli has a harvest date on it that's important. You would want the latest harvest. Sometimes if even good olive oil sits on a shelf and is older than a year it's beginning to lose nutritioal value. I'm also going to paste a checklist that I used for students that took an olive oil course from me. I hope it will be helpful for you. Here's the checklist. Hello Trinity..I just found a great olive oil that I purchased at a grocery store near my home and want to pass the name on to you. It's difficult to find this type of quality and you can't really depend on one brand name becasue even within one brand there can be ranges of quality. Here's one that I can recommend - the name is Bellucci. It's reasonably priced and is pressed from olives cultivated in small family farms in Italy. The olives are grown and pressed in Italy. The label states that it has polyphenols and oleocanthal - both great for heart and overall health. Here's the website url. If you do a search for the name or go to the webstie you can maybe purchase it at a store near you or maybe you can order it online. Sorry I didn't have anything earlier for you but just found this one. belluccipremium.com is their web address. Let me know if you find it...

The best olive oil should come from Morocco not Italy or Greece. Polyphenol rich and organic of course
@carolamendoladanca
2 жыл бұрын
Hello, If you are sure that olives are only sourced from Morocco, are pressed (not ground) at right presure, are stored in dark glass containers and if a sample of each lot of oil is taken and tested for polyphenol content then it's pretty good oil. I am cautious about making blanket statements on the quality of olive oil and never just rely opinion. As my 3 part blog states, scrutinize the label for harvest date, use by date, where 100% of the olives are grown, preferably grown organically and even better would be DOP and/or DOC designation. Then you can be sure it's great olive oil.

Thank you for shedding light on the diversity and intricacies of olive oil! As a producer of extra virgin olive oil in Southern Italy, I wholeheartedly agree that not all olive oils are created equal. We've always believed that the best olive oil is one that's been carefully harvested from organic olives, cold-pressed, and packed with high levels of polyphenols, reflecting the quality of the soil, the care in the harvest, and the precision in the extraction. Moreover, your emphasis on education is vital. It's crucial that consumers are informed about the differences in quality and health benefits of various olive oils so they can make informed decisions. I look forward to diving into your three-part series and further expanding my knowledge. Keep up the excellent work in educating the public about the real value of high-quality olive oil!
