17:30 Speaking of test anxiety, I had a former colleague, he quit his job to go back to college. The day of his exam, he was so sure he failed it he walked out of the classroom and jumped over the rail, falling nearly 4 stories. He was hospitalized for months and sadly never fully recovered from his injuries and ultimately passed away. Very sad 😔

Wow!!!! Now that’s probably the most extreme test anxiety story I have ever heard. It’s very real, like I mentioned in the video! Thanks for watching! 👍

I slowly got worse and worse at taking these tests back in the day. My best scores were in science and Math. But I will say don't let it stop you. I did not pass but still made it through college and received my masters with A's and B's. Had a 4.0 in my Undergrad. It is not the world's end, but it can be a confidence crusher.

I remember those tests as well. They were *very* particular about how to fill the circles in, otherwise the machine wouldn't read it right.

In Australia teachers are allowed to help the student understand the question, what you're supposed to do, but not give them the answer or hints obviously.

At least you’ve got the longer end of the stick. In the United States (probably not all states, but especially prevalent in my home state, Texas) the test proctors are allowed to help us read and understand words we don’t know, but they can’t remind us how to do math if we forget how to do it.

King of the hill had a. Episode similar to this where the school was worried about how scores on a standardized test would make it look so they had bobby hill one of the main characters kids and several others falsely marked “special needs “ (if you watch the show you know they’re really just dumb) and bribed them with a trip to an amusement park to play along shenanigans of course ensued

I think a new show you could watch is called Recess. It’s all about school some starters could be… The first episode, 1A 1B. The break in and The new kid. Then later on S1. Ep 9: The Box S1. Ep 10: Teachers Lounge. I’d recommend them in order. What does everyone else think.

Mrs. Krabappel making students learn the patterns of test answers is almost like willingly letting them cheat. I have no clue how that could have been approved.

Hello! i am really enjoying your videos. I don't know if your doing requests or are backed up but I think a good video for you to maybe react to (if ya can) would be "Don't Stay in school" by Boyinaband. It was a song that came out when I was just graduating in high school and some of the topics I feel he covers in the song it'd be interesting to see from a principal perspective on what should/should not be mandatory, or priortized in a school setting (i'm sure things have changed since he made the song and some of the stuff he covers has been changed for the better so it'd be nice to hear about that). I've seen numerous teachers react to it so it'd be interesting to see your take. If not that's fine as well. Thank you for your time!

8:54 Even though Skinner and Chalmers lied about it, a student getting exempt from testing is a real thing in Texas. Some school districts enable high school students to get exempt from their final exams in certain classes, provided they have an A-B honor roll, have no more than two absences per semester, have received fewer than three strikes for being tardy, have received fewer than three office referrals, and have never been suspended from school in the current semester. That said, a student could be rendered ineligible for all test exemptions if they registered late, and opportunities for exemptions would be unavailable to classes that offer college credit. (The rules were set to apply to each class individually; a student could be exempt from testing in one class, but not another.)

Hey - yes, this is a real thing in Georgia too, but only on regular final exams. The state tests can’t be exempted in the same way. Each school has slightly different policies on this. Thanks for watching! 😎👍

Yes - a lot of provisions were changed. It would take a whole video to explain, and I think most people would find it boring 😂 Basically, both federal laws set national policy on education that all states have to follow. Most people don’t realize though that each local school district has far more impact than the state or nation on decisions that affect students and staff. Thanks for watching! 😎👍

It seems like a millennial gen Z would write about. You have a generation that grew up in the 80s/90s that learned how to take a test vs learning and understanding the subject being taught.
