Angeles City Science High School students E’van Relle Tongol, Shaira Gozun, and Neil David Cayanan noticed the need to soundproof public school classrooms. This led them to experiment on creating a sound absorption material out of natural fibers.
Their ingenious study titled “Hibla” gained recognition as they won as Best Team Research in Physical Science during the Department of Education’s 2019 National Science and Technology Fair. It was also one of the six entries of the Philippines to 2019 Intel International Science and Engineering Fair. They also received an honorable mention from the Acoustical Society of America during the 2019 Intel International Science and Engineering Fair.
E’van, Shaira, and Neil, are among the pioneer recipients of the Gokongwei Brothers Foundation Young Scientist Award. The recognition is given by GBF to students who exhibit excellence in Science and Technology.
