Great video of some classic HS1 action, especially with the 373s! I'll be going to the location near Charing next week and this is a perfect showcase!

American here, I am impressed with the UK's HSR network. Beats what we have in the USA for sure! One question, how come the 395s only have one headlight? Wouldn't it be better to have two?
@WaschiXtreme
Жыл бұрын
In the UK most trains have 2 Headlights one on each side and a marker light, at daytime the marker light on the drivers side is turned on and the headlight on the non drivers side is on. (The others are off) at night time the headlight on the drivers side is on and the marker light on the non drivers side is on. (Again the other lights are off) this is for the front and at the rear of the train there are 2 taillights (one on each side) wich are on. The reason why this is the case with the 395s and not the Eurostars (373, 374) is because they operate in France and for France there need to be 2 Headlights on each side. Driver’s side: right Non driver’s side: left

@@StarlifeStudios I bet 🤣😎👀 It used to be hard enough tying to get HST power car numbers at 125mph, so Im sure its very difficult at 186mph 🤔🫣👀 Yes there is something unique and fascinating about high speed rail in the UK 😎🇬🇧 HS2 will add to that fascination and excitement, if its ever fully built? 🤔 The only problem down the decades the railways have always endured are politicians/Governments 🤔 Rarely (if ever) have they made good, long term decisions that benefit the railways in this country 🤡🇬🇧

These trains are great. I like especially the 373 because it is not the same boring shit as in Germany. Don't misunderstand, it is great that Siemens has recived orders, but I don't really like the Velaro. Trains with Lokomotives or Power Cars look more interesting and powerful and inside it's not that noisy. I want to drive the 373 at least once. Which route is most likely to take the Class 373?

@StarlifeStudios

At both of these locations there are access gates which walkers can use. The land itself is owned by London and Continental Railways (Network Rail). I'm not someone who will trespass, there was always a fence between me and the railway.

I rode the train to work in Atlanta, and it is a less thorough system than what UK has especially around London. Still, the ride was very pleasant to me and I didn't have any stress about driving in very heavy traffic during rush hour. The Great Britain has a very nice system and I rode from Gatwick to London when I visited. I can see how it makes more economic sense though, in the USA to use aircraft for travel being so far between most cities across the country. Still, Large cities can and some do benefit from decent train systems.

Question: Why do the british do the funny thing with their headlights. What does it improve and why don't you just use your lights like most countries
@StarlifeStudios
Жыл бұрын
Hello NoZo! The headlamps are designed to be lit at different times of the day for safety - The offside lamp is used during the day, and then the nearside during darkness, since it's angled slightly to the left and down to illuminate trackside signs and to make the train visible to track workers. Newer trains have dipped and high beam lights for the same reason although the left and right arrangements are no longer required as long as lights are in a triangle shape. Hope this helps 🙂
