According to Guinness World Records some french dude achieved the highest air on a skateboard off a halfpipe in 2005 with an unbelievable 7 ft 8 in. Guess the folks at Guinness have never seen this video .

I looked it up and everything you had said is correct. Jocke Olsson (Sweden) on 6 July 2005 in Argeles-Gazost, France. He reached an incredible height of 2.35 meters (7 feet 8 inches). This record was equalled by Terence Bougdour (France) on the same show in La Tranche Sur Mer, France, on 27 July 2005.

Wonder how they measure it, lowest body part/highest body part/where the board is 🤷 This blew my mind as a kid, and there's still nothing on vert these days, no matter how technical, that impresses me as much as the old school. Guess that means I'm old lol

This contest was in 1985. Anaheim Convention Center, Holiday Havoc. I was fourteen, big Hosoi fan. Crowd went absolutely nuts when he pulled off that ten+ foot air. Peralta had his skateboard warehouse in Fullerton. Some punkers from Fullerton broke into it-- everybody came up on a skateboard deck. Good times.

Dude the real Don Hoffman got locked up for serial indecent exposure years ago. Stop trying for secondhand glory. I lived in Lake Arrowhead and skated Pipe every day I could get a ride down the hill! 84-87. Then I moved to Michigan and skated the Coastline ramp and the Steel ramp at Veterans Park in Ann Arbor.

Actually that half pipe is more like 11 foot. It had what was a trend back in those days for a while, what we call "eliptical transitions" where the transition started out normally and gradually got tighter and tighter. It was a awful design, it would pitch you to the bottom. Todays vert ramps are a vast improvement. My backyard ramp that was ridden up until '95 was 12' tall with a foot and half vert, that was as big as they get back then. Todays vert ramps are 13 to 15 foot tall...massive.
