As a Welsh accordionist, this is one of my favourites on the box. Very Scottish, but thanks to two German boys. We need more like this to raise our spirits. Thanks so much, Frank in Bristol.

As a Scots-born, I'd have been 'in bits' even if this was played in the reality between Coatdyke and Airdrie stations in Strathclyde-magnificent stuff with thanks to the musicians however concealed!

Actually this is the Cologne style version by the band „Bläck Fööss“ named „Do bes de Stadt“ (You are the City) one of the many hymns we have for our beloved home city.... Cologne bands often use Scottish melodies

But the "Scottish Melody" has a german origin: It was written and composed by Ulrich Roever und Michael Korb in 1982. But it was suggested as the scottidh hymn by excited scottish people...

What’s that supposed to mean? We have pipe bands in the USA, and very good ones I might add. I’ve heard Highland Cathedral played by our local pipe bands and high school band as well. We had it played by a former Pipe Major of the Royal Scots Regiment at my wedding to my late wife, and a lot men wore Kilts, including me and my brother and father. So, I really don’t understand your comment. BTW there is a very strong Celtic heritage community in the USA, with lots of Highland games and festivals.

@@annanoyang3961 what’s that supposed to mean? Stop being cryptic because it actually sounds like you don’t know what you’re talking about. There were Scots and Irish on the side of the colonies fighting for independence and they never gave up their heritage. Look up Scots in the Apalaches, many actually were involved with the founding of the USA and settled the new lands.

This should be Scotland's national anthem. flower of scotland is boring and hateful.
@crinolynneendymion8755
Жыл бұрын
Where is the hate in Flower of Scotland? It is a response to the hatred that Edward the First, "Hammer of the Scots", and his nobles showed towards those north of the Tweed. You may dislike the song for it's retrospective nostalgia, it's over use and misuse, but you would do well to respect the history that it represents.
