He may look funny but results of his presidency were not funny: GDP shrinkage as there had been a major war, social collapse, demographic collapse, rampart lawlessness, large scale theft of national property, actual mafiacracy. Yeltsin wasn't even a true democrat. His motivations in the late Soviet period were more personal than ideological: a huge resentment towards Gorbachev for the way he had been treated in 1987 by the party's central committee.

@LordikNPR

@@aj_shooter4097 As for history, I totally agree. But this definition works in both directions, and not only in the direction of Russia. In Russia there are bunch of channels that broadcast how bad Putin is (despite what your media says). And I am far from satisfied with Putin's policy in everything. However, when people say that in Russia all people's brains have been washed by "Putin's propaganda", they forget that there is also propaganda in the West. In Russia, many pass it off as the truth. As for the current situation, not everything is so simple. As in 2008, as in 2014. To find out the truth, it is enough to ask people from South Ossetia, Crimea and Donbas what they think about this. Ask specifically the residents who have experienced all this. Their opinions are never shown on non-Russian media channels.
