From Fiji! We take 7 seriously and it has part of every family from different walks of life, if we lose in the elimination round its a bad week for us. But observing other nation like Kenya though they lost in final they are a hard nut to crake but not only that its also nice to see t2 and t3 nation competing World Leg like Russia etc. I congratulate other nation in taking part if its not for those team Fiji will be facing tougher opponent. But let get to see nation prepare for the Commonwealth and world cup. It will exciting year for teams preparing. God bless.

Easy....... Put all their top players that scattered around the globe together as super franchise and you will see. Tier one nations played about 6 test games before summer or Autumn tour, whilst pacific nations may have one if they are lucky,...... before go on a tour. How can you bring players to gel on that time frame......? Give Samoa, Tonga and Fiji a platform and you will see nightmares at your door steps...... in a good way lol

Also clubs pay them more if they retire from international rugby. And you know 7s suits their style and they have targeted it and take it more seriously than the tier 1 nations. That’s why USA have been able to improve so rapidly. That and they get to play the top teams more often of course. Fiji have improved a lot in 15s though as well. Top 10 team and beat France. But they have funding problems. They can’t get a home test against the top teams. They need to be included in the rugby championship but Japan will be more financially appealing. They also lose players to other countries. You saw what happened to NZ in the rugby league World Cup when the various Pacific Islanders were allowed to revert to their own nationality. It destroyed their squad and 2 if the Tonga and Fiji made the semi finals. Sorry for bringing up the other rugby.

NZ still playing 2000s style and not developing their really fast guys. They wont win if they dont pick a couple of really fast guys.
@rukaks

Brem agreed. When other teams successfully put their truly fast players into space, NZ are unable to shut them down without top end speed
@drakemasters4226

Brem NZ are more then capable of producing the speedsters out wide. It's just that they need the right players inside them to create those opportunities out wide
@fijifijian

Agree with you on that Brem, even Fiji have recognised this tactic and have roped in High School track stars to be part of the extended squad, developing them into world class seven's players.

Drake Masters I didn't suggest they weren't capable of producing them just that they simply don't.

Lethal Gamer Bryn NZ has a national 7s league, they have many more 7s players than Fiji does and they put more money into their 7s team than Fiji does. They simply haven't yet realised they need to grab the fast boys and teach them the game rather than grab the fastest of whoever is already available and playing.
