Loved it... fun old film. And what a cute Wanda Hendrix. A real tragic actress deserving of much more and who died so young at only 52 in 1980. She put up with the very worst that could be dealt to her during her short marriage to Audie Murphy. The PTSD he suffered from just wasn't diagnosed back then, and his bravery on the battlefield took a horrible toll on him. Much of that bottled up rage was taken out on Wanda, who divorced him purely out of self-protection. Unfortunately, Hollywood and the audiences back then treated her lie a deserter of a national hero, and her career never really took off as it should have. Now I need to renew my knowledge of the Salton Sea history. Thanks for posting a wonderful copy of this gem of a picture, Breaker! Much appreciated.

But, what is a Las Vegas cop doing anywhere near the California border, let alone crossing the state line in pursuit of a suspect where he has Zero jurisdiction??? Yeah, low budget plots.... with that LV sheriff, sans the mustache , being a near stand-in double for Lee Van Cleef (too)!! And older Joan Bennet is also a treat here.... This is the greatest film noir it was so good I watched it twice in one day. Richard Conte is the king of film noir. Clever story & plot with many unexpected surprises. A bit far fetched & improbable but entertaining. I like how he turned the tables on the police & escaped in a patrol car & then stopped to help the 2 women fix their car. And when the car broke down they get into a station wagon & he crashes thru roadblocks & 2 motorcycles & the car is a total wreck & still running in the desert. Laughed my head off. Great movie.

9:20 That cop removed the magazine from the pistol, but didn't rack the slide . There could've been a round in the chamber!!! How could a cop who claimed to be a Marine combat vet be so CARELESS??

An entertaining B movie starring the under rated Richard Conte. It was fscinating to see brief glimpses of Las Vegas and the rest of Nevada in the mid 1950s. There were a number of times the plot didn't make sense but Conte and the rest of the cast kept going. Well worth a viewing.

Not very believable how Richard Conte evaded all those law officers. I almost lost interest but decided to finish viewing it. Glad I did. Otherwise an ok movie. I have seen hundreds of movies with Richard Conte. He was very prolific in the 50s.

These movies depict a time when California was populated with men . We boys learned to be men watching these . LITTLE DID WE KNOW THAT WE WERE BEING PREPARED FOR A WORLD THAT WOULDN'T EXIST WHEN WE GOT THERE !

You forget the dog leash was not on the dog because it was still in her pocket after being wrapped around the neck of that cheap blonde tramp! If the killer were really smart she could have hid the murder weapon in plain sight right on the dog's collar. I think the dog knew too much anyways and this was really rather a clever way to eliminate it. Dead dogs tell no tales. Especially when said tails are flattened out on a hot California desert highway!

i would have liked the movie better if the Dog was Saved by the man instead of letting a car hit him and die... the end was kinda corny but still a happy ending...

Yes, i did not see the point in the dog dying, other than the inconvenience of dragging the dog along for the rest of the story line. Here is our main man, letting the dog out to do it's duty for ten minutes by the diner. Here he is again by the gas station. Now here he is walking the dog in the desert! Here he is once again carting the dog out in his arms to see the half submerged house. Lets face it. The dog had to go! Plus he knew too much. It was his leash, after all, that was used to kill the blonde bimbo. Dead dogs tell no tails! I mean tales!
