It is a terrible thing to be a typhoid carrier. The most famous was Typhoid Mary. She may have been responsible for up to 50 deaths. She was asymptomatic and thus always claimed she couldn't possibly be a carrier. Due to her refusal to decline work as a cook which paid better than most other jobs available to her, she was finally forcibly quarantined for nearly 30 years until her death.

@@GamePlayWithNolan It took me a while to figure that out. The '46, '47 and '48 were very similar, all basically warmed-over '42s. The '49 GM cars were all new, but a little blander. It must have been a formidable effort for GM to use the same body shells for all their models, with leaf springs on Chevys & Pontiacs, a torque tube on Buicks, coil springs & Hotchkiss drive on Oldsmobiles & Cadillacs, not to mention V8s for Oldsmobiles & Cadillacs vs. straight 8s on Pontiacs & Buicks. By the end of the 1950s, all that was gone and every brand had a 6 or V8 up front and Hotchkiss drive in the rear.

In that time I guess they didn't have all the antibiotics we have now. A carrier can be cured but they have to be in treatment for a long time to make certain ALL the bacteria are dead. Even back then, if they had kept treating him long enough it might have worked with just the meds they had. But they didn't know that yet.

They usually do a pretty decent job of tying up the loose ends at or near the end of each episode, but they left one huge loose end with this one. Did he really spread Typhoid to the child? He said he made sure to not touch anything that could have possibly spread the disease, and a couple of times it was mentioned that she could have picked it up any number of ways. Did he or didn't he? If so, with the very limited contact he would have had with her and the constant contact he would have had with the other workers, the chances are that he didn't spread it to her, but... How DID she become infected and why was no one else infected?
