If anyone wants a serious answer for the first question, I don't quite think her answer fits, though it would in some cases. The reason why breakups hurt so much is due to grief and loss, losing something you cared about and treasured so much. It's a mourning process. You envisioned a long life with them, a future with them. Then it's abruptly taken away. Probably got to do with chemical dependancy on dopamine and oxytocin that they provided too, if we're being scientific.

I still find it so crazy that so many comments here express how suprised and amazed they are to hear her speak english. At the risk of sound like some kind of hispter fan, most non japanese fans of hers that have followed her career know full well her command of the english language. Hell I hate KH and generally cant stand most anime and am not really "into" japanese culture so maybe that changes my perspective of how i view her, but it just seems alot of non japanese fans that fawn over her do so due to that obsession of japanese culture. I saw her in vegas at the house of blues with a friend that had no idea who she was or nor any interest of gaming or japanese music, animation etc etc. I told her Utada was simply an artist from new york. My friend told me after the concert that aside from the japanese songs, she would have had no idea she was from Japan. It wasnt until after the show at home that i showed her Utadas actual "icon" status in japan via concert videos and whatnot on youtube and she was floored. The idea that Utada could have such a small scale more intmate fandom outside of japan as well as having the complete opposite massive fame status in japan was such an interesting dichotomy you rarely see. Alot of the fans in the audiance were a bit insufferable though tbh.

These are song artists I absolutely love... People who are honest and actually are nice people. I’m so glad Ms. Hikaru is an amazing singer yet such a great and nice person. I also love how she’s been involved in Kingdom Hearts ever since the original, yet she’s never played a single game, but such an icon.

i'm so glad i could understand both English & Japanese. love how she switched between English/Japanese. wonder why she has a bit of a British accent. btw she doesn't need to answer some of those personal questions

Aw, I love Hikki. I’ve been a fan of hers for nearly 20 years and I still love listening to her speak English, it’s rare but it reminds me of the time she was promoting her English album.

That type of thing happens to me,too.Japanese personality is really different from English personality because of differences in cultural back grounds. Most of Japanese scares to speak English,so that also explains her reaction. Anyway, this happens to a lot of Japanese who speaks English.

I mean... if you were a fan you would’ve heard her speak in English by now. There are TONS of interviews, specials and recordings on KZitem of her speaking in English. Even that super early release she did when she was really young. Remember her first unofficial release album in 1998? I think it was Cubic U? Damn... I remember googling and YouTubing everything I could find about her.

@@bewear3445 It's crazy when she switches between the two. I understand that she was brought up in a multilingual environment but that doesn't take away the fact that it's a special skill that not everyone has.

She used to sound 100% NYer, now 80% only. The other 20% is kind of British, I guess. Meh, she has been living in UK for 10 years now When you switch between the languages, there would be some accents left. However, if it is a full English conversation, that would be another episode :)) To be honest, I used to think of her as an American speaking Japanese 😁
