Fantastic video captures some great views of the Scottish scenery. Really well put together with just enough talking and some very appropriate music. I'm biking the route in May so hopefully half decent weather and not too many midges. Thanks for filming, Andy

How do you get to the start point. We live in the Middle land. Do you trave t Glasgow. Then catch what. a bus. Or do the trains go there. Thank you
@JamesBTravel

Hey Malcolm, once you get to Glasgow there is a direct 20 min train to the start of the walk in Milngavie. Thanks so much for watching. Hope you get a chance to do it yourself, it really is an incredible walk.

Hi James - just did the WHW followed your venues for it each evening - apart from Drymen which was full - thx for the guidance - can you tell me what software you use to make dot your videos ? Thx

Hi! Thanks so much for watching, I’m so happy to hear my video was helpful for your trip! I use adobe premiere pro, which is a paid software subscription. If you’re on a budget, I’ve heard very good things about DaVinci Resolve which is free and has all the same functions. All the best!

Hi - did you pre book any of the camp sites ?
@JamesBTravel

Hi Clive, yes we pre-booked all campsites as they can get booked up quite quickly. Some seemed to have space for walk-ins, but we didn’t want to risk it

@@JamesBTravel is there a certain GPS app you use for the WHW?

It’s fairly well signposted the whole way, so I didn’t use a GPS app, just a phone & Google maps.

Yeah 16kg is quite heavy. You can get it down but it costs alot to get cheaper stuff.

I’m really interested in the idea of going ultralight, but it requires quite a bit of investment. Eventually, I hope to end up somewhere in the middle.

@@JamesBTravel It makes a difference. You can probably lose 1kg off body easier with fasting, and stuff, try to do jamnadas stuff at moment. The thermorest neo air mat is quite good, I got it cotswold, and it is guarantee for 2 years. so can be replaced, 300g or so.

Just got back home from my trip. Did it in 5 days. Your video is nice because I was rushing past all these places you got to spend more time in. For example I did all of Loch Lomond in one day so had no time to stop and explore like you did.
@JamesBTravel

Yeah, I’m glad we did it at a steadier pace as we got to appreciate the landscapes a bit more. Doing Loch Lomond across 2 days was tough enough, I bet doing it in 1 was a real mission!

I just got home yesterday from doing the exact same 8 day trip as you bar one wild camping spot. Only problem I had was arriving at almost every location far to early in the day. ( Around 2pm most days ) if I ever do it again I might try 5 or 6 days. Amazing vid. Watched it the night I got home.

@@JamesBTravel I filmed around 236 clips using my GoPro. What software did you use to edit your movie ? Also have you thought about doing The Rob Roy Way ? That might be my next adventure. Thanks.
@JamesBTravel
2 жыл бұрын
@@grant666uk I use Adobe Premiere Pro to edit. It requires a paid monthly license fee, but I do a lot of editing for work so it’s worth it. If not, a lot of people I know are happy with Apple’s free editing software (iMovie) if you’ve got a Mac. Not sure of the windows equivalent. Apparently Da Vinci Resolve have a free version which I’ve heard good things about too but never used myself. Yes, I’m definitely considering the Rob Roy Way as my next one. Or the Great Glen Way, to pick up where I left off from Fort William and continue all the way to Inverness. But the next big walks for me will be in New Zealand (we’re heading there in a few weeks) and will be taking on a couple of their Great Walks.

Did you need reservations at the campsites? What month did you hike? great video!
@JamesBTravel
Жыл бұрын
Hi Mary, we did this in late May/early June and we had reservations for all the campsites to be safe, though I did see a few people turning up and booking on the day. Sallochy campsite (the one next to Loch Lomond) is the only one that you have to book in advance as you need a permit to camp alongside Loch Lomond.
