This is a hike I have dreamed of for a long time. Børgefjell National Park is located just south of the mountains I grew up in, but apart from a school camp in the early 80's, I have not been on a proper hike in Børgefjell until now.
Pippi, my Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever, and I got a ride up to the starting point Sjånes at the top of Susendalen by my parents. They also took a "small" detour to Namsskogan where they left a bag with some clothes and goodies (beer, potato chips, snacks ...) that were waiting for us at the other end.
The route went through the National Park from Susendalen in the north to Namsvatn in the south. The main route was the "waterway" via Tiplingan, Simskardelva, Båttjønna, Kjukkelvatnan, Gaukarvatnet, Jengelen, Blyvatnet, Djupvatnet and down to Namsvatnet, plus some day trips around. On this hike we had planned for pleasant day stages approx. 50/50 divided between paddling with packraft and on foot. Lots of fish, no people, zero mobile coverage and a wilderness like no other. And a LOT of weather, especially northern winds. The only weather we didn't have was snow. ...every day.
The last night before the journey home was spent in a camping cabin at Nyheim camping in Namsskogan where we got to experience local hospitality at the best from Kari Irene and Magni Ingjerd!
The music in the film is - besides a couple of small tunes - composed and performed by a really nice musician from Namsskogan; Stein Rune W. Otnæs and his band. / 430277634968031
Two of the songs (the first and one in the middle) are taken from the KZitem music library:
