Washuzan is a mountain with a spectacular view that rises just behind the Seto-ohashi Bridge. A huge free parking lot is available, and visitors can easily enjoy the spectacular view of the islands of the Seto Inland Sea and the Seto-ohashi Bridge on foot!
There is a rest house (restaurant and store) near the parking lot, and in front of it is the "Second Observatory. Washuzan is a representative scenic spot of the Seto Inland Sea National Park, and is a popular viewpoint from which you can see the peaceful islands of the Seto Inland Sea and the magnificent "Seto-ohashi Bridge," and even Shikoku on the opposite shore!
You'll have the luxury of just gazing as boats large and small pass under the Seto-ohashi Bridge!
Most people only see the second observatory and go home, but that would be a waste of time!
So, I would like to introduce you to the most spectacular climbing trails on Washuzan!
There are two trekking courses on Washuzan (Mt. Washu), one north and one south, but we recommend the southern route!
The first half of the course is flat with few ups and downs. The first half of the course is flat with few ups and downs, and then the view opens up and you will come to a plaza with a spectacular view. Compared to the second viewing platform, you can see all the way down to the bridge piers, making this a great place to spread out a packed lunch and have a picnic.
From this point on, the path is a little steeper and steeper, but the view is good and you can climb up while gazing out at the ocean. There are also some scenic viewpoints here and there, so take a break if you get tired. After climbing further, you will see the Washuzan Visitor Center, a famous photo spot!
Inside the Visitor Center, there are hidden scenic spots, so don't miss them! Inside the center, there are exhibits on the topography, ecology, and history of Washuzan, and at the far end is an observation terrace with a spectacular view!
The higher you go, the better the view of Mt. Washu becomes, and if the weather is nice, you can even see the mountains of Shikoku clearly!
After leaving the Visitor Center, we finally set out for the summit! The 133-meter-high summit is called "Shoshuho".
The view from the trail just below the summit is spectacular! Climb the last slope and you will reach the summit! At the summit of Mount Washu, you get a spectacular 360-degree view!
This is truly one of the most spectacular views in the Seto Inland Sea area!
