Thanks for sharing your climb, the reward was grand! I think that trip down is more difficult, I'd rather rappel that walk down. Safe travels Van.

I found out that I have somewhat of a fear of heights, specifically on these unstable steps and without solid steps and sides. Will be visiting more lookout towers on this trip, to get rid of that fear. Have a great day! _Van Williams & Joey_

Well done facing your fear of heights and the view was gorgeous . Joey is such a good boy. Beaver pond and the trail looked lovely. Fall branch water fall looked beautiful shame it was so busy for you. I don't think my stomach would be to great on the suspension bridge though. Thank you for sharing.Take care and drive safe 🤗

Hi Annie, I enjoyed that whole day. That bridge looks worse than it really is and standing in the middle of it, looking down on that peaceful river is just a gorgeous experience. Hope everything well. _Van Williams & Joey_

I use to live in a cabin up on a huge rock. I had to walk across a swinging bridge to go up or leave. I loved it but whenever the river flooded and the muddy water was in huge rolls of waves beneath it was a little scary. Enjoyed the hike and your partner Joey. Have a great day and thank you for sharing.

Hi Rebecca, 'cabin on a huge rock' sounds like a place I would like to visit (or live). And a swinging bridge to get there is like icing on a cake. You must be living a great life! Thanks for posting your thoughts. _Van Williams & Joey_

Great job climbing the tower! My Golden Jaxx would try climbing with me and I wouldn't of course let him. Then I'd have to tie him but he would be a whiny baby if I climbed alone. So I couldn't climb a fire tower when Jaxx is with me

Joey will climb any step, but like in some other natural areas, these steps are made out of an open steel grid and Joey dislikes that. Probably hurts his feet. The real reason why I won't take him up there, is that I don't feel comfortable myself on these fully open stairs 40-50ft above the ground. Have to overcome this slight fear of this type of heights. _Van Williams & Joey_

Hey Van Great show looks really good - metal stairs and hiking boots is hard - what has happened to wireless mic / cam ? ive been looking into 360 cams - might be really good for your type shows - have you tried a polarizing lens on cam for thru windshield shots - can make a big difference on reflection on windshield - im in Az been riding ebike and filming clouds and sunsets - going to mount starlink dish flat on roof pointing straight up - this is supposed to work now - going to make removable so can still ground deploy - Jay

Hi Jay, it took me a while to respond; wanted to look at some of your latest videos first. What is that obsession with cloud formations anyway? That ebike vid was interesting; I'm still considering one for the van too, but I have no more suitable space left to store that bulky thing, unless I throw out my 'garage'. We'll see. I have a lark wireless mic set and one of the mics has given up (few weeks after warranty of course). Will be using the other one from now on and hope this one will last longer. These 360 cams are intriguing and I have been looking at them. Two issues for me though: limited or no Linux software support and more importantly, I think, their visual effect is still eerie and strange looking, limiting their use to very few clips in a video. What I do like about them are these full 360 videos, where you can move your POV wherever you want to, but that's not so practical. You will know that Starlink has these fixed systems now that you should be able to use while driving, only $2500 :) Didn't know, that you can install the old ones flat/fixed; probably because they have many more satellites. Well I'll be staying here on the east coast for the foreseeable future. Take care! _Van Williams_

@@cargovanconversion Hey Van - im videoing clouds because I dont have much to film out in desert - gives me something to do - pretty much no one sees my channel so its a waste of time to put much effort into videos - Bummer on mic braking - so far Rode mics have worked good for me - have 3 wired - have not used their wireless mic - Movo brand wind socks work really well - watched a hiking channel using 360 cam it was good in some ways - machine shop channel with 360 cam works really good - time saver on cam setups - ebikes are super popular were im camped now - over 100 here - seeing ebike tracks way out in the sticks - many of these people have not ridden a bike in decades - they have big smiles riding - Starlink tried laying dish pointed straight up - worked Ok but dropped speed by 50% ish at times - have not tried while moving - here many dishes mounted to roof on RVs so I guess a little shaking has small bad effect - In Stowed Position dish is shut off - to hack motor power plug has to be unplugged to Bypass dish being shut off - Cut hole back of dish - works Ok but not glitch free - Starlink could change setting in app and make it work stock - doubt they will do that - wind does not move dish at all - upside down airplane wing shape of dish pushed dish down - a lot - camp site blows away dish still sitting there - its amazing feature of dish no one seems to notice - so i think with proper roof mount dish should be Ok on moderate highway speeds - Trees main thing to worry about - rumor is tablet size dish next - where im camped in good conditions its possible to see Vandenburg launches but have not seen one yet - Jay

Hi Jay, I've had my eyes on a fat Lectric foldable ebike for a long time, but they're ~60lbs and have no real space to store it. See it also as a emergency transportation vehicle when the van breaks down or is in the shop. What you may not know, that I was born in The Netherlands (and that should be enough). Think there are more bikes there than cars :) and part of my family was heavily involved with cycling, both as a sport and technically. When I was young I did a few 1000+ (non-competitive) bike rides through Europe. In other words, it is in my blood. Anyway, I hope to find some kind of solution for my dilemma. Trees are the main issue for VanLife, both for solar as well Starlink. Certainly for my way of traveling. So far here on the east coast, I spent a lot of time in thick forests with often at least some level of phone reception. Have unlimited hotspot without real throttling, sufficient for streaming. Worked out most of the times and if not, I have a quiet evening to read a book. Starlink likely would be no solution for what I'm doing here and now. Still haven't made up my mind on that either. A tablet size dish is interesting though. For me more interesting right now is satellite email; those phones are going to be widely available next year. Would save on a separate PLB and one less device. What a world we live in :) _Van Williams & Joey_

Who enjoyed the hike more? You or Joey? Could you notice 4000 ft air in breathing compared to sea level? It takes me a minute to acclimate How old is Joey now. My guess is 6

It's about 50/50 I suppose, although it's still difficult to figure out what Joey is thinking :) He loves to go on long walks and during the 14 days that I was in Georgia, he out-walked me on the steepest trails. My home is at ~0ft elevation (sea level :), but no issues at 4000ft. Breathing is an issue here, because it was an ascent of ~1000ft in one hour and my lack of serious exercising before this trip, was clearly visible. I hope your guess of my age is as good as Joey's: he is 12 years and 5 months old, but he still acts like a puppy :) _Van Williams & Joey_
