That’s a treasure there Thomas; a piece of Old Florida that’s getting more scarce by the day with every developer passing by. I had to chuckle at one of the reviews I read about this trail - the woman said it was “too natural.”😂 I’m not even sure what that means! No snack stand, no shopping? I guess a nature trail means something different in her world. Thanks for the morning hike! I miss these kinds of winding, bendy, trails along the marshes living off the mainland. I think Dagny Johnson Park is the closest to it we have in the Keys.

I need to check out the Dagny Johnson Park next time I'm visiting the Keys. I like these kinds of "too natural" preserves. 😆

It looks like you had a film crew with you when you arrived! 🙂 It was very courteous of you to walk through the door when you came and left! Good job on getting your steps in. That trail reminds me of one we did near Fort Myers but I lose track of which one!

Haha, takes some creativity to do the film crew work. You never know, maybe someone was home, gotta be polite 🤔 Theodore Roosevelt Area is a part of the greater Timucuan Ecological and Historical Preserve. 10 minutes from my home. I go there almost daily to walk my daily 5 miles. Willie Brown got this from his father and lived in this small cabin all his life, and at the end donated all land to preserve it as a natural area. Thanks to him we have this beautiful preserve and trails to hike. He could have made millions if he had sold it to developers.

That hissing alligator 🐊 was on a trail last year and I think I have the video somewhere. I passed slowly and I had a stick in my hand in case if it tried to bite me. It was a small 3 footer.
