A group of Canadian treasure hunters challenged me to hike to this rugged, super-remote site on Towne Peak in western Death Valley. where an SA-16 Albatross went down in 1952! The wreckage is still there, and if I was able to photograph the serial number from any part of the plane's wreckage, I stood to win a cash prize...but it was no easy feat: 9 very rugged miles and around 3500 feet total of elevation gain, all cross-country with no trail. Did I succeed?? Watch to find out....
