Thats the beautiful part of the Marine corps every Marine is a rifleman and expected to maintain at least some basic level of combat readiness. That's why I Love the Corps... No other branch does this. If your Army its Rangers that do these types of humps. Green berets dont even humo once they've earned that Beret they get a lil soft in my opinion they do other hard coprs stuff but humps with rucksack and rifle??? A greene beret? lol..nope And show me JUST ONE example when u have ever seen a NAVY SEAL complete a 30 Klick hump with full rucksack and rifle...????? And spread leaded ammo for 60mm mortars and machine gun ammo and water and grenades.. and 5.56 ammo etc.. Them guys get alot of Hollywood hype but I respect a U.S. Marine grunt the most. As well as the lives of a couple of other Marines, when the accident he caused, made a couple of the trucks flip trying to avoid it. My brother M.E. 1. It's HUMPING not hiking. Hiking is what college students do on the weekend. HUMPING is what hung over grunts do because they carry 50 lbs of shit on their back. 2. Revelie is when the fire watch turns on the lights and yells "REVELIE". You put your feet into a worn pair of shower shoes, drag your dead ass over cold cement floors into the head and 30 of you shared 4 sinks 2 urinals 2 shitters and 4 shower stalls. 3. You then go to the chow hall and eat toast under greasy hashbrowns under eggs over easy under creamed beef. ( soaks up the alcohol and throwing up substance is always better than dry heaves.) 4. You go back to your cubical and grab your pre packed 782 gear you handled @ 0130 when you came back from pounding beers. Fall out for head count then return to barracks leaving a volunteer to watch everyones gear and try to take a shit. 5. Go to the armory check out your gun and .45 don your gear ( including your helmet) right face forward march...route step. Stop 15 miles later. If anyone shared their feelings, it would be met with "shut the fuck up" Different time OOO-RAAH
