Great video man, love to see the new hikoki tools being reviewed, cannot wait to see how their new combi/ hammer drill stacks up dv36dc is the model number but it looks really good.

Thanks mate! They're pretty schmick I must say. I'll be doing a dedicated vid for the 36V (also the 2 18's I've got😂) soonish, but don't want to overload on the green just yet! (I did a runtime vid pretty recently of the 18V & 36V together)

Love the balance point. Hate the big triggers on these pistol style drills. Means you've only got ring and pinky fingers to hang on with while lining a hole up one-handed.

Indeed, it's pretty cool. Pistols are my least favourite style for that reason but I think they've done a nice job at making this good for 1 handing. Only prob is the ventilation, but that'd be solved by adding more vents in the top so you can strangle it when you need to

This a major design flaw that ruins the one handed ergonomics. I overlooked this point before ordering but sent the drill back for that reason. Single finger trigger would make much more sense.

Great content as usual. With such a small motor I wounder how durable it will be.

I think I'd be pretty good, considering the high price and the 6 year warranty. It's probably the same motor as an impact driver or something else in their range but with more reduction gearing to slow the speed even more than on an impact (maybe 10x rather than 5x)

Great review. Wish you had how many holes you could get off one battery with say the 12mm or something, just to get an idea of the efficiency.

Why don’t you get hollow bits and hook up to a dust extractor ? You would take the variable of dust friction out of the tests

Yeah I considered that but in the end I thought, this is a real performance characteristic of these tools so it's good to actually show it. Especially since these tiny hammers are made for drilling small holes, yet they tend to suffer the most from this issue. But it's only really an issue if you're drilling downwards & insist on not withdrawing the bit. Plus, I use a new bit for each drill and there's no way I can afford a new hollow bit for each one!

can you test Reactive Force Control(RFC) on DH18DPB - Thanks Bro

Will this thing be sufficient for bolting rock climbs you reckon? Mainly 10mm expansions or 12mm glew-ins in fairly hard rock, gneiss and granite.

Yep I've used it for that! Just remember it doesn't have chipping mode so if you're notching the rock for your glue ins you'll just need to practice doing that with hammer drill mode

They're basically the same but I prefer the drop motor over the pistol grip so the DPA for me
